Freshman overcomes difficulties 3 times
At the exchange on stage, Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Uyen, a new student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (Go Vap District), said she had overcome 3 major difficulties in her 21 years of life.
Uyen said she used to be very self-conscious when her friends teased and ridiculed her for having blind parents. When Uyen was in 11th grade, her father's illness became so serious that he had to stay in bed, and the little girl suddenly became the breadwinner. Uyen temporarily put her studies on hold to work many part-time jobs to earn money to support her family.
Having saved some money, Uyen went back to school, graduated from high school and passed the university entrance exam. The female student always reminded herself that only by going to school and studying could she help her family escape poverty and overcome difficulties.
"The third difficulty in my life is the tuition fee, the amount is beyond my ability. I was very scared, afraid that my future would continue to be unfinished. That's why when I heard the news of receiving the scholarship, I was overjoyed. Later, when I am stable, I will definitely come back to "support" students in difficult circumstances" - Uyen confided.
Freshmen share their life events and meaningful ending
You are my treasure!
Nestled in a corner of the stage, Ms. Le Thi Ha (58 years old, living in Dong Nai province) was moved, using her phone to capture the moment her son received the scholarship on stage.
The woman was filled with happiness and said: "The day my child announced that he had been admitted to FPT College, I was overjoyed but also very worried. Because his health was different from his friends, and his family's circumstances were difficult, I was afraid that I wouldn't have enough money to send him to school. However, now I can rest assured."
Ms. Ha said her son has had a neurological disability since childhood, is easily agitated, often talks nonsense, has frequent headaches, etc., so his studies are very difficult.
While working as a construction worker, Mrs. Ha got cement dust in her eye, damaging the cornea of one eye and causing her to lose her sight. The incident made the family's already difficult situation even more difficult. Many times when applying for jobs, Mrs. Ha was rejected because of her old age and only one eye. The mother decided to work on the farm to continue her child's dream of going to school.
"My greatest asset is my son and my son's greatest asset is me. He has worked hard to achieve the academic results he has today. To me, it is an extraordinary effort. I am very proud of him," said Mrs. Ha with a smile.
