Sharing at the award ceremony of the writing contest held on the morning of November 17, author Quang An, who wrote the article "The Village Teacher", said that there are 3 things he admires about teacher Nam Nhac. First, he always treats his students like his own children, willing to teach and provide free food and accommodation. Second, although he has not attended any teacher training school, he has still helped many students get into prestigious schools such as Petrus Ky (now Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City).
"Finally, he is also the one who guides his students to their own ambitions and dreams, from which they can establish a new life. With a bright mind and pure heart, he has guided many generations of students to become successful individuals, such as former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Chi, former Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association Le Thi Van...", author Quang An said.
With their contributions to the education sector, Mr. Nam Nhac and Professor, Doctor of Science, and Meritorious Artist Phan Quoc Khanh, former Principal of the International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University), were also awarded the "Mai Vang Tri An" award. This award was organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper to help care for the lives of artists and intellectuals in provinces and cities who have made many contributions to the development of their localities and the country.
On this occasion, the organizing committee of the writing contest also awarded one second prize, two third prizes and three consolation prizes to writers who are journalists, teachers, workers and students. Among them, Thieu Nguyen Vy Da, the youngest author, was only a 6th grader in Dak Lak, and was also the one who carefully hand-wrote each line on blank pages to express gratitude to her homeroom teacher.
Speaking at the event, Mr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, said that the number of entries this year was much higher than the first time with nearly 150 works, proving that the spread and meaning of the contest has touched the hearts of many readers. "The teachers in the works not only impart knowledge but also transmit passion so that students can reach their dreams and become good people who always carry gratitude within them," Mr. Tuan acknowledged.
On the occasion of the ceremony, Mr. To Dinh Tuan also launched the 3rd "Beloved Teacher" writing contest. The program began accepting entries from today (November 17) and is expected to award prizes and honor outstanding works and exemplary teachers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day 2024.
