On the evening of August 22, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Philippines in Group C of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
U23 Vietnam encountered many difficulties against the fierce playing style of U23 Philippines.
Despite fielding a team with many reserve players, U23 Vietnam still showed complete dominance over their opponents.
In the 18th minute, from a pass from his teammate, Dang Duong controlled the ball neatly and then crossed it just in time for Huu Tuan to rush up and finish into the U23 Philippines net.
With the opening goal, U23 Vietnam seemed to have relieved the pressure and played quite freely.
However, in the remaining time of the first half, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's students did not score any more goals.
On the other hand, U23 Philippines played with great determination but they were almost unable to attack against the pressing ability of the red shirt players.

But the best chance in the first minutes of the second half belonged to the U23 Philippines players.
In the 47th minute, goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan rushed out but could not catch the ball, allowing Martin Merno to shoot from close range. Luckily, his shot missed the target.
After escaping defeat, U23 Vietnam began to rise up and press the field with consecutive situations of hitting the blue shirt defense.
In the 50th minute, Dang Duong skillfully eliminated a U23 Philippines player and then shot the ball right into the position of goalkeeper Mcapagal.
Not long after that, Minh Khoa had a chance to shoot within 16m50 but his shot was very inaccurate.
Towards the final minutes, the match became very exciting with tit-for-tat situations between players of both teams.
But the lack of precision in finishing prevented either side from scoring any more goals.
In the end, U23 Vietnam had an easy 1-0 victory over U23 Philippines.
With this result, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will continue as the top team in Group C, U23 Vietnam's opponent in the semi-finals is U23 Malaysia.
