Singapore almost caused a big surprise against Thailand

With this victory, the Thai team won all 3 matches, reaching 9 points, maintaining the top position in the group and a ticket to the semi-finals even though they still have 1 match left to play against Cambodia. Meanwhile, Singapore is still ranked second in the group with 6 points.

In the early match of the same day, the Cambodian team let Timor Leste score the opening goal but successfully turned the tables and won 2-1. With this valuable victory, the Cambodian team has the same 4 points as Malaysia. Thus, the remaining semi-final ticket of Group A will be a race between Singapore (6 points), Cambodia (4 points) and Malaysia (4 points). In the final match on December 20, Singapore will face Malaysia while Cambodia will face Thailand.
If Vietnam wins the Philippines on December 18, the top spot in Group B will belong to coach Kim Sang-sik and his team, so Vietnam and Thailand will not face each other in the semi-finals of the AFF Cup 2024.
