Thai Binh arrests 2 officials related to La 'crazy'

On the evening of June 13, a source from the People's Procuracy of Thai Binh province said that in the afternoon of the same day, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh province issued a decision to prosecute the accused, execute an arrest warrant for temporary detention, and search the residence and workplace of 2 people who are officials and former officials of the district, commune, and district levels in Kien Xuong district (Thai Binh province) to continue investigating the crime of taking advantage of position and power while performing official duties as prescribed in Article 356 of the Penal Code.

The two officials and former officials arrested include: Tran Van Thanh (41 years old, residing in Quang Trung residential group, Kien Xuong town, Kien Xuong district), an official of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Kien Xuong district, and Pham Thien Tu (63 years old, residing in Phu Cap village, Nam Binh commune, Kien Xuong district), a former official of the land administration of Minh Quang commune (Kien Xuong district).

The above decisions and orders have been approved by the People's Procuracy of Thai Binh province.

Previously, as Thanh Nien Newspaper reported, on the afternoon of June 12, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, issued a search warrant for the residence and workplace, and issued an arrest warrant for the accused Nguyen Son La (aka La "crazy", 67 years old, from Minh Quang commune, Kien Xuong district) for the crime of abusing position and power while performing official duties, as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 356 of the Penal Code.

Defendant Nguyen Son La was accused of being an accomplice in the case. Accordingly, La was arrested to investigate the act of colluding and influencing officials and functional agencies to violate land laws, causing especially serious consequences.

Defendant La has a criminal record for theft. In 2005, "crazy" La established Manh La Company Limited (located on Le Loi Street, De Tham Ward, Thai Binh City), registered with 53 different business lines, mainly operating in the field of road passenger transport.

From the above field, defendant La has built many relationships in society and expanded into investment and business in many different fields such as real estate, factory rental, shoe manufacturing... and became a famous brand in Thai Binh province.

La "crazy" is also known as a land auction expert. Many years ago, the land fund of Minh Quang commune, Kien Xuong district (Thai Binh) was sold by the government to La. La then divided the land into lots and sold the land.
