Agriculture is one of the important economic pillars of Tay Ninh province, playing an indispensable role in the overall development of the province. With a clear orientation on increasing the value of agricultural production, Tay Ninh is focusing on building and developing high-tech agricultural areas, not only to improve production efficiency but also to ensure sustainable development in the long term.
High-tech agricultural development strategy
In the context of international economic integration and global climate change, agriculture in Tay Ninh province also faces many challenges. However, this is a field full of potential when the province has advantages in natural conditions and labor.
Agriculture in Tay Ninh accounts for a large proportion of the economic structure, contributing positively to GDP growth and creating jobs for thousands of workers.
According to the report of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, in 2023, the total production value of agriculture, forestry and fishery reached 27,900 billion VND, accounting for about 25% of the total economic value of the province. This is a clear demonstration of the role of agriculture in ensuring economic and social stability in Tay Ninh. However, to achieve sustainable development, the application of science and technology in agricultural production is necessary and urgent.

Faced with new market requirements and production practices, Tay Ninh has developed a strategy for developing high-tech agriculture, emphasizing the creation of large-scale specialized production areas, applying advanced technology to optimize the production process and improve product quality.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, the target by 2025 is that the province's high-tech agricultural area will reach 5,000 hectares, double that of 2020. In particular, key areas such as Go Dau district, Chau Thanh and Trang Bang town will receive strong investment, becoming the "capitals" of high-tech agriculture with key products such as sugarcane, rubber, and clean vegetables.
A typical example is the high-tech clean vegetable production project in Go Dau district, with a total area of 150 hectares. This project has invested in modern equipment such as greenhouses, automatic irrigation systems and plant nutrition control technology. Results after one year of implementation show that vegetable productivity increased by 30%, water savings of up to 40% and the amount of pesticides reduced by 50% compared to traditional farming methods.
Policy to attract investment in high-tech agriculture
To promote the development of high-tech agriculture, Tay Ninh province has introduced a series of preferential policies to attract large enterprises and corporations to invest. Specifically, Tay Ninh creates favorable conditions for administrative procedures, supports loans with preferential interest rates, reduces taxes and provides technical support for enterprises investing in high-tech agriculture.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Tay Ninh, as of June 2024, the province has attracted 27 high-tech agricultural projects with a total registered capital of more than VND 5,000 billion.
In 2021, Bel Ga Joint Stock Company (Kingdom of Belgium), De Heus Group (Netherlands), and Hung Nhon Group (Vietnam) inaugurated the Bel Ga Tay Ninh high-tech poultry hatchery with a capital of 200 billion VND, an area of 15,000m2, a designed capacity of over 19 million chicks/year in phase I and will expand the capacity to 38.4 million chicks/year in phase II, meeting the demand for poultry breeds for the Vietnamese and Cambodian markets. These projects are part of the supply chain of clean, sustainable and export-oriented agricultural products.
This is a positive signal showing that Tay Ninh's agricultural sector is gradually transforming strongly thanks to the application of technology and attracting investment resources.

Despite the positive results, the development of high-tech agriculture in Tay Ninh still faces many challenges. One of the biggest difficulties is the problem of capital.
Investing in high technology requires large costs, while local small businesses and farmers have limited finances. Therefore, Tay Ninh province has called for support from banks and financial institutions to provide preferential loan packages for businesses and farmers.
In addition, the issue of human resources is also a big challenge. The application of high technology in agriculture requires workers to have professional qualifications and skills in using modern equipment. To solve this problem, Tay Ninh province has implemented many training programs to improve the skills of workers in the agricultural sector.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tay Ninh, from 2020 to present, the province has organized more than 150 training courses for 5,000 agricultural workers, focusing on new farming techniques, using automation technology and environmental protection in agricultural production.
Towards the future: Sustainable agriculture and international integration
Tay Ninh not only aims to develop high-tech agriculture in the short term but also aims to build a sustainable, environmentally friendly and internationally integrated agriculture. Agricultural development associated with environmental protection is becoming an inevitable trend in the context of climate change and strict requirements from the international market.
According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, by 2030, Vietnam will become one of the major high-tech agricultural exporters in the world and Tay Ninh will contribute significantly to this achievement. Products such as sugarcane, rubber, vegetables, etc. from Tay Ninh not only meet domestic demand but also target demanding markets such as the EU, the United States and Japan.

A successful example is the Tan Bien clean vegetable cooperative, which has signed export contracts with partners in Japan. With an annual export output of 500 tons of vegetables, this cooperative is gradually affirming the position of Tay Ninh agricultural products in the international market.
With the strategic vision and determination of the local government, Tay Ninh is becoming one of the bright spots in the development of high-tech agriculture in Vietnam. The combination of attracting investment, applying advanced technology and comprehensive support policies has been helping Tay Ninh's agricultural sector develop sustainably, not only meeting domestic demand but also reaching out to the international market.
Identifying agriculture as an economic pillar and creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest in high-tech agriculture will help Tay Ninh achieve the goal of sustainable economic development and improve the lives of local people.
