Creating youthful vitality for the Party

Developing party members among students is the right direction. Because this is a young force, with knowledge and aspirations to contribute, contributing to building an increasingly strong Party. However, how to improve the effectiveness of this work is always a question that Party committees at all levels are interested in and have proposed many solutions for implementation.

Good experiences

Phan Boi Chau High School (Phan Thiet City) with more than 70 years of establishment and development has had many important milestones and one of those milestones is the birth of the first Party Cell with 3 party members who are all students in 1972. Promoting that proud tradition of patriotism and revolution, over the years, the Party Committee of Phan Boi Chau High School has always attached importance to the work of developing the Party among students, considering this an important political task and has achieved many positive results.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep - Secretary of the Party Committee of the school said: In the past 3 years, the Party Committee of Phan Boi Chau High School has admitted 33 party members, of which 18 are students. Every year, the School Youth Union selects from 15 to 25 outstanding members for the Party Committee to send to attend classes to foster awareness of the Party. "The work of developing party members among students in recent years has made a positive and important contribution to the Party Committee of Phan Boi Chau High School building a Party Committee that meets the standard of "Excellently completing tasks", Mr. Hiep said.

One of the experiences that Mr. Hiep needs to focus on is being proactive in discovering and nurturing typical factors. “The school’s Youth Union seeks resources to train, nurture and “incubate” potential students from grade 10 and grade 11. At the same time, it expands to many subjects such as students who are outstanding in their studies, outstanding in volunteer activities, outstanding in the fields of culture, arts, physical education, sports, etc., from which it introduces them to the Party Committee, assigns Party members who are homeroom teachers, subject teachers to monitor, help and encourage exemplary students, strive to excel in their studies, mature in character, and determine the right motives and aspirations to join the Party. Then, select and send the most outstanding Youth Union members to attend a class to improve their awareness of the Party, continue to monitor, nurture and admit them to the Party in grade 12. Every year, in the first quarter, students who meet the conditions are reviewed and guided in writing their CVs to prepare early for Party development,” said Mr. Hiep.

At the Party Committee of Binh Thuan College, from 2021 to present, the Party Committee has admitted 73 new Party members, including 45 Party members who are students. In 2023 alone, the Party Committee of the school introduced 21 outstanding student union members for the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies and Enterprises to consider and admit into the Party. The above results stem from the fact that the Party Committee of the school has attached importance to educating, nurturing and improving the revolutionary moral qualities of students, helping them to have "resistance" to the attack of evil, eliminating evil, negativity, and pragmatic lifestyles due to the negative impact of the market economy. The school has strengthened the organization of activities and movements; regularly innovated the forms, improved the quality and effectiveness of activities, to create an environment to attract and gather forces among students. In each activity, it has created conditions for union members and young people to promote their abilities, strengths, initiative, creativity...

Enhance multiple solutions

From 2021 to 2023, the whole province had 213 students and 46 university students who were excellent people with high achievements in studying and training who were honored to be admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. Meanwhile, the whole province currently has 1 university, 1 college, 1 secondary school, and 28 high schools. In the 2023-2024 school year, the total number of students in the whole province is 44,232; of which, there are 38,993 students and 5,239 university students. Compared to the above figures, the rate of admission of Party members among students in the whole province is still not commensurate with the existing resources.

Regarding the difficulties, many school committees said that: According to the Party Charter, at the time of admission consideration, a person joining the Party must be 18 years old or older (calculated by month). Therefore, the consideration of admission to the Party in high schools is only carried out for students born from January to May; Intermediate training classes in 2 years are difficult in the examination and verification process... In addition, some Party committees and organizations in schools do not regularly monitor, inspect, and supervise; and are still confused in creating sources for Party members. Many Party organizations in schools still focus on academic achievements, not on movement activities.

The 13th National Party Congress has determined that it is necessary to arouse the will and aspirations for national development; to enhance the Party's leadership capacity in the new situation. Therefore, developing Party members among intellectuals and students is very important. To better perform the above tasks, the Party Committee of Bac Binh High School said that to develop the Party among students, it is necessary to do a good job of creating resources. Therefore, the school's Party cells will select excellent students from the time they are in grades 10 and 11 to train them so that they are eligible to be considered for admission before graduating. The Party Committee will make a list of those who meet the standards of academic performance, conduct, political factors, and clear backgrounds to attend a Party awareness training class organized by the Bac Binh District Party Committee. Organize students who are eligible to be admitted to the Party to attend a Party awareness training class right from the summer of the end of grade 11, so that they have enough time to be aware of the Party. At the beginning of the 12th grade school year, the Party cells and the school Youth Union continue to educate, orient and guide students to apply to join the Party.

Meanwhile, the Party Cell of Nguyen Van Linh High School (Ham Thuan Bac District) believes that to admit a student to the Party requires many factors, including the important factor of attention and leadership from Party committees and authorities at all levels. On the other hand, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Youth Union - Association of the school need to create a training environment from the movement and the self-effort of each individual member - youth will contribute to doing a good job of political and ideological education and developing the Party in schools.

It can be said that the organization of admitting party members from students not only avoids the current situation of "indifferent Party, dry Youth Union" but also contributes significantly to supplementing high-quality forces and resources for the Party and the country. At the same time, it helps young people live with faith and ideals, limits the state of moral degradation, helps young people not fall into social evils, strives to live a beautiful and useful life. The benefits are very clear, so it is necessary to have the participation and drastic actions of Party committees and organizations from the provincial to local levels.
