Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung recently had a working session with key leaders of Phan Thiet City on the city's socio-economic development tasks for the first 6 months of 2024.
Mr. Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan, Chairman of Phan Thiet City People's Committee, said that in the context of many difficulties, the results of all aspects of Phan Thiet City in the first 6 months of the year were quite impressive.
Accordingly, the city's tourism activities are outstanding when the number of visitors is estimated at 3.4 million, up 48% over the same period, of which international visitors increased 1.5 times and revenue is estimated at 7,900 billion VND, up 16% over the same period.
Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung chaired a working session with provincial agencies with Phan Thiet City on the afternoon of July 2.
Meanwhile, budget revenue reached more than 69% of the annual plan. Some key projects of the city such as the Ca Ty River embankment (to Tran Hung Dao Bridge) completed 90% of the volume; Ca Ty River apartment building, Van Thanh Bridge, handing over the site for the Phan Thiet airport project on schedule.
The city is actively implementing site clearance for the funeral home projects, Ca Ty apartment building, and residential area south of Le Duan Street.
In particular, Phan Thiet City People's Committee promotes the application of information technology in handling administrative procedures for people and businesses through the IOC smart center application.
The implementation of urban beautification is directed by the city to be carried out synchronously, creating a clean and beautiful urban appearance.
Notably, according to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City, the People's Committee of the city is currently submitting an investment policy for two new commercial and service urban areas, Ham Tien (234 hectares) and Mui Ne (160 hectares) on the land fund on both sides of Vo Nguyen Giap Street. However, the leader of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City admitted that the city's economic development is still slow, not commensurate with its potential advantages.
Mr. Doan Anh Dung believes that Phan Thiet City must promote its advantages to develop to be worthy of being the economic and cultural center of Binh Thuan.
Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung said that Phan Thiet City is the tourism, economic and cultural center of the province. "The change and development of the city will be the driving force reflecting the development of all aspects of the province. Therefore, Phan Thiet City must promote its strengths and potentials; have appropriate solutions, clearly assign responsibilities to people, closely follow the resolutions of the Provincial Party Committee and the resolutions of the City Party Congress", Mr. Dung emphasized.
According to Mr. Doan Anh Dung, except for the tourism sector, the remaining aspects of Phan Thiet City have developed slowly and inadequately, such as trade and services, agriculture, and industry have not developed significantly. Compensation and site clearance for some key projects are still slow; State management in the field of land, land encroachment and re-encroachment are sometimes complicated.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province requested Phan Thiet City to properly implement the conclusion (No. 703) of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on the expansion of Phan Thiet City and the planning of some important locations; in which the city needs to do a good job of propaganda so that people can agree on the rearrangement of ward-level administrative units in the coming time.
