In 2025, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber will organize a business delegation to Vietnam to learn about the infrastructure sector and at the same time strengthen technology investment cooperation.
According to information from the Vietnam Trade Office in Austria, on January 30, 2025, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang had a working session with Ms. Amelie Gross, Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) and Mr. Stefan Stantejsky, Director of the Asia and Oceania Department to discuss and promote Vietnam - Austria trade and investment cooperation. Also attending was Ms. Dinh Thi Hoang Yen - Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Austria.

The Austrian Federal Chamber of Economic Affairs represents the interests of all Austrian businesses (membership is mandatory to obtain a business license), comprising more than 540,000 member companies, a network of 9 state-level agencies across Austria and 100 Advantage Austria trade promotion offices in 70 countries worldwide.
In Vietnam, Advantage Austria has established an office in Ho Chi Minh City since 2019. WKÖ specializes in consulting, training, and connecting to support and enhance competitiveness for Austrian companies, from labor and customs issues to policy advocacy such as tax reduction, administrative procedure reduction, and subsidies.
At the meeting, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang updated the economic development situation and efforts to improve Vietnam's investment environment in 2024 with many bright spots such as high growth rate of 7.09%, attracting FDI of nearly 40 billion USD, total import-export turnover of nearly 800 billion USD, economic scale ranked 32nd in the world and in the top 20 economies in terms of trade and foreign investment attraction, having participated in 19 bilateral and multilateral FTAs.
The Ambassador emphasized Vietnam's aspiration to develop richly and prosperously, determined to create strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure, human resources, science and technology, innovation, and prioritize attracting high-quality foreign investment, serving digital transformation and green transformation. In that direction, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang suggested that WKÖ recommend the Austrian Government and Parliament to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), support Austrian businesses to increase investment and trade with Vietnam, and strive to bring the trade turnover between the two countries to exceed 3 billion USD.

On the WKÖ side, Ms. Amelie Gross congratulated Vietnam on its impressive economic achievements, saying that Asia in general and Vietnam in particular are opening up many opportunities for Austrian businesses. The potential for Vietnam-Austria cooperation is still huge with many complementary advantages, in which the interests and strengths of Austrian businesses towards Vietnam are currently clean energy, infrastructure construction, smart cities, AI applications, software technology, etc.
In 2025, WKÖ will organize a business delegation to explore the infrastructure market in Vietnam, while strengthening cooperation, connection, and technology investment.
