Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) has just coordinated with Cau Giay District Police and Market Management forces to detect and temporarily detain a large amount of food of unknown origin.
Initial information, on September 3, 2024, the Traffic Police Team No. 6, led by Major Ha Anh Tuan, was on patrol duty on Pham Van Dong route (Cau Giay district).
At around 10:50 a.m., the Task Force discovered a truck with license plate 19C-164.xx traveling on the elevated Ring Road 3, from Thang Long Bridge to Thanh Tri Bridge, showing suspicious signs, so they stopped the vehicle for inspection. Upon inspection, the driver, D.MH (born in 1994, residing in Bao Thang District, Lao Cai), was able to present all documents related to the vehicle and the driver; the driver did not violate the alcohol concentration.

The task force then inspected the goods on the vehicle and discovered a large quantity of moon cakes and other confectionery, with packaging printed in foreign languages. At the time of inspection, the driver could not present documents proving the origin.
Working with the authorities, Mr. H confessed to transporting the above food from Lao Cai to La Phu (Hoai Duc, Hanoi).
Afterwards, Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 coordinated with the Economic Police Team and Market Management of Cau Giay District to bring the people and related vehicles to Market Management Team No. 13 (Hanoi Market Management Department) to clarify the type, quantity, and origin of the goods.


At Market Management Team No. 13, the authorities conducted an inspection and recorded: “Truck with license plate 19C-164.xx was carrying about 9 tons of candy, food, and alcohol, all with foreign labels (no invoices or additional labels; no proof of origin); including 200 boxes of moon cakes with foreign packaging.
Currently, the forces are continuing to investigate and handle according to the provisions of law.
“Given the situation in the market where many moon cakes, fruits, etc. of unknown origin, not ensuring quality and food hygiene and safety, the Traffic Police will increase patrols and controls to promptly detect and strictly handle cases of transporting goods and food of unknown origin to ensure safety for the people,” said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien, Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 6.
