A survey conducted in 2022 with patients with hematopoietic cancer (blood cancer) at K Hospital, Central Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital showed that: 48% of patients were in the age group of 21-40 years old (accounting for the highest rate), 10% of patients were under 20 years old and 16% of patients were over 40 years old. Many blood cancer patients said they lacked information and knowledge about the disease. Survey results showed that 86% of patients wanted more information and knowledge from experts and doctors through live and online activities, 60% of patients wanted to interact and share information and experiences with other patients.
In order to provide official information to leukemia patients nationwide, as well as create a bridge connecting and sharing experiences between patients, caregivers and medical staff about this disease, Takeda Vietnam continues to accompany the Bright Tomorrow Fund through the "Bright Tomorrow - Accompanying Hematopoietic Cancer Patients" Club. This is the second year that Takeda Company has provided this support.
Specifically, in 2022, with the sponsorship of Takeda Vietnam, the Bright Tomorrow Fund will carry out many activities to support patients, including: Building Zalo and Facebook groups to provide information and knowledge about leukemia to the community. This is also where hundreds of members exchange, share, and ask and answer questions about the disease. In addition, regular meetings held in person and online are also an opportunity for specialists to share issues that patients need to pay attention to, such as common leukemia treatment methods, nutrition for patients, etc. The establishment of the "Blood Cancer" corner on the website www.nci.vn of the National Cancer Institute (under K Hospital) has provided and answered knowledge about pathology, nutrition, and mental health care in an official manner for patients. Not only that, a photo contest called "I'm happy to live" launched on Facebook Group has encouraged leukemia patients to express optimism and hope in life, thereby inspiring positive living for the community...
Following the success of last year's activities, in 2023, in order to continue supporting blood cancer patients, the "Bright Tomorrow - Accompanying Hematopoietic Cancer Patients" Club will organize regular live meetings at key hospitals such as the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Ho Chi Minh City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, K Hospital, and National Children's Hospital. These activities create conditions for patients to have their questions answered directly by doctors at the hospitals where they are being treated.
In addition, the club also plans to organize a number of activities for patients such as organizing music nights to support disadvantaged patients nationwide.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Director of the Bright Tomorrow Fund, highly appreciated the active support from Takeda Company, which has created conditions for the Fund to continue supporting cancer patients in Vietnam in general and leukemia patients in particular. "Accompanying leukemia patients will be the premise for long-term cooperation between the two sides in guiding and sharing knowledge to help patients easily monitor, detect symptoms early and communicate promptly with their treating doctors. This will partly reduce the difficulties that patients are facing such as mental and physical decline," Ms. Huong added.

Ms. Mai Thanh Binh, Head of Market Access Department of Takeda Vietnam, said: "Takeda Vietnam is committed to accompanying the Bright Tomorrow Foundation in supporting patients with leukemia, especially lymphoma, through providing knowledge. We hope that this cooperation will serve as a meaningful meeting and exchange place for leukemia patients, where doctors can answer patients' questions, as well as better understand the needs of patients, thereby helping to improve the quality of treatment for leukemia patients and improve the quality of life during and after treatment."
