Towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi Party Committee (March 17, 1930 - March 17, 2025), the Youth Theater launched the musical Fire from the Earth, recreating the story of the life and revolutionary career of comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu - the first official Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Sharing at a press conference recently held to inform about the play, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Si Tien, Director of the Youth Theater, said that Fire from the Earth is a story about the life and revolutionary career of comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu - the first official Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
"With ardent patriotism and profound revolutionary awareness, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu, his family and friends, as well as many classes of Hanoians, including the urban intellectual class, participated in the revolution with a strong belief in the revolutionary ideals that leader Nguyen Ai Quoc had shown the way. He understood that the humiliation of losing the country could only be resolved through the revolutionary struggle to regain independence and freedom, even if he had to trade his youth in prison, or even sacrifice his life for the cause of national liberation revolution, he would never be a slave," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Si Tien.
Fire from the Earth is the fire of patriotism, belief in a bright future; the fire of the struggle for national liberation, the fire of pioneer heroes who dared to sacrifice themselves and influence the people (intellectuals, workers, farmers...) to move towards the revolutionary Autumn General Uprising in 1945.
By inspiring like-minded people to continue the challenging and arduous journey but also full of glorious pride, the Fire from the Earth is the sacred fire in the hearts of the people. “Fire” symbolizes the spirit and immortal faith; and “Earth” is the people, symbolizing the Party lighting a fire in the darkness of slavery, this fire is born and burns strongly from the people because the Party itself is born from the aspiration for independence and freedom of the nation.
Meritorious Artist Nguyen Si Tien, the program's artistic director, added: "With the youthful strength of a national-level theater, the Youth Theater still maintains its faith, passion, and enthusiasm to blend in and deeply integrate with the world's cultural flow.
In addition to the outstanding plays that have left an impression on the audience, the theater has recently continued to create and develop new plays in the style of musicals to approach and adapt to current theatrical trends. We hope and expect to bring a fresh atmosphere, a new style unique to the theater to meet the diverse needs of the public to enjoy art."
The musical is directed by Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh - Deputy Director of the Youth Theater, script by Le Quy Hien, stage director Dao Duy Anh, music director - Minh Dao with more than 20 musical works composed by him completely new, with many colors, combining many genres and forms of music exclusively for Fire from the Earth .
In addition, we must mention the experienced names who contributed to the musical such as: People's Artist Doan Bang, People's Artist Tran Ly Ly, visual director Hoang Duy Dong...
Director-in-chief, Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh, said that she had long cherished the idea of making an artistic work about Hanoi because she was born and raised in the land of a thousand years of culture. She had the opportunity to start creating the musical Fire from the Earth thanks to a collection of documents that her family had kept for many generations, recording comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu, a relative in the family.
And thanks to the talent of the playwright Le Quy Hien, the recorded details were adapted into a script for the special musical Fire from the Earth . Although musicals are a completely new genre, playwright Le Quy Hien and director Cao Ngoc Anh found similarities in their love for the capital city of Hanoi. This was the motivation for the playwright to successfully create a script for this work.
The musical Fire from the Earth will officially premiere on March 15 and 16 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, Hanoi.
