Pepper price today, February 22, 2025, in the domestic market, continued a series of sideways days in key localities, trading from 160,000 - 162,500 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 160,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (159,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (162,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (162,500 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (160,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (160,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today continue to be stable in key localities. The highest pepper price is at 162,500 VND/kg.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first 18 days of February 2025, Vietnam exported 7,535 tons of pepper, with a total export turnover of 51.5 million USD.

Phuc Sinh was the leading exporter with 912 tons, followed by Olam Vietnam: 906 tons and Nedspice Vietnam: 850 tons. The US was the largest export market accounting for 22.6% with 1,700 tons.

Previously, in the first month of this year, the US and Germany were the two largest pepper consuming markets of Vietnam with 2,829 tons and 1,326 tons respectively. The fact that Germany is the second largest pepper consuming market of Vietnam is a surprise.

Thus, since the beginning of the year, the amount of pepper exported to China has not shown any signs of improvement. Last year, exports to this market decreased sharply, according to experts due to 4 reasons: China's economic downturn; China increased purchases from other countries such as Indonesia due to more competitive prices compared to Vietnam; in 2024, due to a sudden increase in prices, at times domestic prices in China were cheaper than prices in Vietnam, so inventory was sold; Chinese customs tightened policies on cross-border purchases.

With low domestic inventories, experts expect this market to increase purchases in the first months of the year, thereby helping domestic pepper prices gain more momentum to increase.

Meanwhile, according to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first half of February reached 6,154 tons, worth 41.5 million USD, down 3.6% in volume and 2.2% in value compared to the first half of January.

Accumulated from the beginning of the year to February 15, the export of this item reached 19,083 tons, worth 128.8 million USD, down 17.2% in volume but up sharply by nearly 39% in value compared to the same period last year. The export volume of pepper has continuously decreased since the second half of last year until now, showing that the old crop supply is not much left while the new harvest is late due to the impact of unfavorable weather.

The average export price of pepper from the beginning of the year to date has reached 6,749 USD/ton, an increase of 67.7% (2,725 USD/ton) over the same period last year and the highest level in the past 9 years.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,267 USD/ton; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,800 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,000 USD/ton.

Muntok white pepper price is 10,100 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 11,600 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,500 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,650 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,550 USD/ton.
