After Tet, teachers "find" students to come to class

After the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, students in Quang Tri province basically attended class. However, a few students were still at home, teachers visited their homes to encourage them to return to class.


The morning of February 3 (January 6) is the first day back to school of the new year of At Ty 2025 for students in Quang Tri province in particular and the whole country in general.

After checking the number of students, cleaning the school and classrooms with the students, and meeting at the beginning of the Spring of At Ty 2025, the principal and teachers of Dakrong Secondary School, Dakrong Commune, Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province divided themselves to go to the villages to encourage students to return to class.

After a long journey, teacher Cao Thi Quyet (born in 1989) arrived at the unplastered level 4 house of Ho Van Nhiet (residing in Vung Kho village, Dakrong commune), a student in class 7A3 of which she is the homeroom teacher.

When Ms. Quyet arrived, Nhiet was at home with her mother and two siblings, her father had returned to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a worker after the Tet holiday.

After visiting, wishing the family a happy new year, giving candy and lucky money, Ms. Quyet advised Nhiet to return to class. Listening to her, Nhiet promised to return to class with his friends.

On the morning of February 3, Ms. Quyet went to the homes of 10 students to persuade them to return to class.

Ms. Quyet said that during her 14 years working at this difficult mountainous school, every time after Tet, she and other teachers went to each house to encourage students to return to school.

"After checking the number of students, if I see any absent students, I will go to their homes to find out their circumstances and the reasons why they have not returned to class. From there, I will find a way to help, share, and advise them to continue going to school" - Ms. Quyet shared.

Also Ms. Quyet, students in Dakrong mountainous district in general, Dakrong commune in particular, mostly have difficult circumstances, parents go to the fields early in the morning and come home late at night. Not only that, the level and awareness of parents are sometimes limited, not paying proper attention to their children's education.

With the spirit of understanding and sharing, the school's teachers have actively cared for, encouraged the spirit as well as provided material support to the students and their families. "Each cake, each gift from home or each set of clothes,... is the heart, affection and enthusiasm that teachers in the highlands give to the students and their families with the hope that they will overcome difficulties in studying and have a better future" - Ms. Quyet confided.

Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province Le Thi Huong said that before the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty in 2025, the department directed all schools to grasp the situation and family circumstances of students, especially those in difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school, in order to promptly encourage, help and mobilize students to return to school after Tet.

Thanks to that, on the very first day back to school after the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, students in Quang Tri province basically attended school in full. The few students who had not returned to class were encouraged to return to class by the school, teachers in coordination with local authorities.
