On the evening of September 28, information about the collapse of the Miss Cosmo 2024 stage spread on social media. Some images showed that part of the stage structure at Phu Tho Stadium, the venue scheduled to host two important rounds of the competition, had collapsed during construction.
In response to the news of the incident, the organizing committee officially announced the incident. According to the announcement, a technical problem occurred during the completion of the main stage of Miss Cosmo 2024.
“On September 28, 2024, a technical incident occurred during the completion of the main stage of Miss Cosmo 2024. Immediately after discovering the incident, the Miss Cosmo organizing committee quickly coordinated with technical experts, medical units and relevant authorities to handle the situation. Initial assessment confirmed that there was no significant damage. We will continue to work with relevant parties to determine the root cause of the incident and update the public as soon as possible,” the announcement stated.
The organizers also stressed that the top priority is to ensure the health and safety of the contestants. “Furthermore, we have quickly implemented measures to ensure the health and stability of all contestants. The safety of the contestants is our top priority at this time,” the announcement added.
Currently, the organizing committee has not announced detailed information about the cause of the incident as well as the plan to fix it. Although there has been no official announcement about the schedule change, the organizing committee said that specific information about the semi-final and final night of Miss Cosmo 2024 will be announced later.
The stage for the Miss Cosmo contest has been set up for the past few days at Phu Tho Stadium. By September 28, the stage was basically complete, ready for the contestants to enter the program's rehearsal.
The incident has worried many fans of the Miss Cosmo 2024 contest in Vietnam and many countries. With the announcement of no serious damage, fans hope that the semi-final night (October 2) and the final (October 5) will still take place as planned.
The Miss Cosmo 2024 jury was announced as follows: Ms. Paula Shugart – former President of Miss Universe, Mr. Pham Quang Vinh – former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and former Ambassador of Vietnam to the United States, Mr. George Chien – Co-founder, CEO and Chairman of KC Global Media, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu and runner-up Kim Duyen.
