Miss Cosmo 2024 and Runner-up share memorable memories and favorite foods when visiting Vietnam

After nearly a month, Miss Cosmo 2024 – the first international beauty pageant organized by Vietnamese people – ended with the highest victory belonging to Indonesian beauty – Ketut Permata. The runner-up position belonged to Thai beauty – Mook Karnruethai Tassabut.

After being crowned, the top 2 Miss Cosmo 2024 has had many exciting activities in Vietnam in recent days and had a chat with Dan Tri reporter.

Was very worried about the stage collapse incident

You have nearly 1 month accompanying Miss Cosmo 2024, what is the most memorable memory in the past journey?

Miss Ketut Permata: Every step of my journey is memorable. Because every day we experience new activities, go to different places, meet new people, so I remember every moment.

If I had to pick the most memorable memory, it would be the affection that all the contestants had for each other. The competition lasted about 20 days, so the schedule was quite busy. We were almost exhausted and tired, but the most precious thing was that all the girls supported and encouraged each other. That spirit is something I will never forget!

Before the final round, Miss Cosmo 2024 encountered an unfortunate incident on stage. Does this incident make you worried?

Miss Ketut Permata: I can’t lie, I was really nervous because the stage is an important part of the semi-final and final night. The incident happened just a few days before the final, we had prepared everything, including bringing our families to Vietnam to attend.

When the unexpected incident happened, I thought that the Miss Cosmo 2024 organization would not be able to recover on schedule and would have to postpone the finals, unless a miracle happened. But in the end, the organization worked miraculously. Everything almost collapsed and then returned to normal.

I wish everyone could see how hard the Miss Cosmo 2024 production team worked to rebuild the stage from scratch.

Runner-up Mook Karnruethai Tassabut : I think, after that incident, we came back stronger and prepared everything better. I think the Miss Cosmo 2024 organization had a very thoughtful “Plan B”. It was great that the final night still took place as scheduled, and the audience even got to watch in a larger space than the original. In addition, the organizers also paid great attention to the health and spirit of the contestants.

Miss Ketut Permata shares a room with Xuan Hanh - Vietnam's representative at Miss Cosmo 2024. What do you think of her?

Miss Ketut Permata: I can talk all day about Xuan Hanh! She is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. On the outside she looks cold and strong but when you get close to her, she is funny and soft.

Throughout the journey of the competition, Xuan Hanh played a very important role. She was by my side, encouraging and motivating me a lot. Xuan Hanh reminded me what to do and what not to do. In addition, she was also my “number one interpreter”.

My unforgettable memories with Xuan Hanh are the moments when we chatted and chatted before going to bed. In those moments, we shared with each other in the most sincere way, from the bottom of our hearts. We gave each other advice and it was truly wonderful!

Although she is the host representative, Xuan Hanh does not help people out of responsibility, but out of sincerity. There are many things about Xuan Hanh that I love!

Some people say that Xuan Hanh is the representative of the host country so she is biased. What does runner-up Mook Karnruethai Tassabut think?

Runner-up Mook Karnruethai Tassabut : I don't think so, because to get that position, Xuan Hanh worked very hard, even twice as hard. Sometimes we had communication problems, Xuan Hanh was the one who helped us convey the announcement from the organizing committee. When the representatives needed support, she was always willing to help.

During the entire competition, Xuan Hanh translated the Vietnamese announcements from the organizers for us. Therefore, I saw Xuan Hanh working very hard, twice as hard as us.

In addition, Xuan Hanh is also active in filming and editing TikTok clips for us. She is always full of energy, a pioneer in singing and dancing activities. I think to get a top 5 position, Xuan Hanh has worked very hard, tried hard and studied constantly.

“Not everyone enters a beauty pageant to marry a rich man.”

In Vietnam, there are many beauty pageants, so many people think that the title of beauty queen has “devalued” compared to before. What about in your country?

Miss Ketut Permata: In Indonesia, there are also many beauty pageants, from small to large scale, from contests for young people to old people. I think that is not a bad thing, because it shows that the beauty industry is growing.

If we say that the title of Miss is losing its exclusivity, then I think Miss is not just a title, but what is important is how you use that title to be most useful. When you are in the position of Miss, you must be aware of what you will do to help the community, how to spread positive values…

Nowadays, beauty contests are not just about competing for beauty, but from the beginning of the contest until you win the crown, you have to prove yourself in many aspects, show your abilities, and what you can contribute to the community...

Nowadays, the criteria for selecting beauty queens are more stringent. In Thailand, in addition to the beauty requirements, is the educational level of the beauty queen and runner-up highly valued?

Runner-up Mook Karnruethai Tassabut : To become a beauty queen, you not only need to stand out in terms of beauty but also need to have intelligence and actions that contribute to the community.

Intelligence here is not only reflected in books but also in your knowledge, experience and life experience. A beauty queen must be someone who inspires others and uses her voice to defend or refute a certain issue.

In general, beauty pageants do not usually have strict requirements regarding qualifications or education. However, to be able to win a high position or impress the organizers, you must be knowledgeable, sharp and knowledgeable.

What does Miss Ketut Permata think about the idea that "beauty queens will marry rich men"?

Miss Ketut Permata: We get a lot of questions like this! I think anyone can marry a rich man, not necessarily a beauty queen. And I think that the girls who come to Miss Cosmo 2024, no one comes to the contest with the purpose of marrying a rich man. Because, we come here to prove what we can contribute to the community.

Marriage is very important and sacred to me. My choice of marriage partner does not depend on their economic conditions, but in my opinion, a talented man means he has worked very hard and diligently.

If I am looking for a life partner, I do not look at their finances. What I look for is their character, their personality, and how they treat others.

Miss Ketut Permata is a travel lover, how do you feel about traveling to Vietnam?

Miss Ketut Permata: This is my first time in Vietnam. The landscape of Vietnam is truly “unique”, something I have never seen in the places I have been to.

To be honest, I didn’t have much expectation until I arrived in Ninh Binh. Everything there was green, from the mountains, trees to the clear water. After the rain, everything in Ninh Binh brightened up, giving a very peaceful feeling.

I find that Vietnam tourism has many unique features that are hard to find elsewhere. The important thing is that Vietnamese people are very warm and friendly. That makes all tourists want to come back to Vietnam.

Name 3 Vietnamese dishes that you like the most and are most impressed with?

Runner-up Mook Karnruethai Tassabut : Oh, I can name more than 3 dishes (laughs). The first dish I like the most is beef noodle soup and I just had it. The second dish I want to introduce to you is banh xeo. This dish looks like a big pancake, with lots of vegetables and meat inside, it looks really great. The last dish is bun bo Hue with a spicy broth, it's really delicious.

I find Vietnamese food very healthy and wholesome. However, I think the key to staying healthy is to eat a well-balanced diet.

Miss Ketut Permata: The first dish I want to introduce is broken rice, I have planned to have broken rice for dinner. The second dish is pho and the third dish is rice paper. Rice paper looks quite similar to food in Indonesia, it has a spicy and sour taste that reminds me of my childhood and my hometown.

Do you know any Vietnamese artists? Who are they?

Runner-up Mook Karnruethai Tassabut : I know! I remember the melody of a song “tinh tinh tinh tang tang tinh…”. It was the song “See tinh” (a hit by Hoang Thuy Linh – PV), I knew this song from Tik Tok and it was really famous in Thailand. When this melody played, almost everyone swayed to the music.

Miss Ketut Permata: I remember his name was Phap Kieu. Oh my gosh! I didn't know about Phap Kieu before but I recently saw his performance.

When Phap Kieu performed, he seemed to “burn” the stage and I wanted to run and dance with him. Below the stage, everyone was very excited and shouted Phap Kieu, Phap Kieu…
