On the afternoon of July 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board announced that the expected progress is to complete all 9 pedestrian bridges connecting metro line 1 by September this year, and to organize fire prevention and rescue inspections and acceptance tests in the beginning of the fourth quarter. Specifically, in July, all architectural items at 5/9 pedestrian bridges (Tan Cang, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, High Technology) will be completed, in August, Thao Dien and An Phu bridges will be completed, and in September, the last 2 pedestrian bridges (Thu Duc bridge, National University) will be completed. Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board has received support from relevant departments and agencies in coordinating the organization, traffic flow, tree relocation, water system, etc. Up to now, the infrastructure locations overlapping with the pedestrian bridge structure have been basically completed. From there, the site has been handed over to the construction unit to drill bored piles, pile bases, bridge piers, etc. Currently, the contractor is focusing on installing bridge girders, 22-37m long, with a large load capacity of 46-75 tons. The construction and installation process is mainly focused at night (from 10pm to 5am). Mornings are only done on weekends. The reason for doing so is to minimize the impact on traffic, reducing the risk of traffic congestion along Vo Nguyen Giap Street (old Hanoi Highway).

Over the past week, the project contractors have worked hard to complete the construction of the pedestrian bridge girder sling connecting Thao Dien station. This is the most difficult and disadvantageous location for the project's bridge girder sling (located close to high-voltage power lines, complex traffic intersections at the foot of Saigon Bridge), with many potential traffic safety risks. Up to now, the pedestrian bridge girders have been installed in the correct position, ensuring technical specifications, without any unsafe incidents.

Ensure clearance of pedestrian bridge

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board said that the pedestrian bridges crossing Vo Nguyen Giap Street and Hanoi Highway are places with a lot of traffic, especially container trucks entering and exiting the neighboring port area, so the clearance height is given special attention during the design process. Therefore, the pedestrian bridges connecting the stations of Metro Line 1 are built according to the standards and regulations on the minimum clearance for vehicles to pass through is 4.75m and 0.3m of reserve height.
