After 15 days of intense competition, the 2023 Asian Games (Asiad 19) in Hangzhou, China, officially ended after an impressive closing ceremony on the evening of October 8.

At 19:00 (Vietnam time), the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games officially began. Premier Li Qiang was the highest-ranking Chinese leader to attend the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games.

Officials speak at the closing ceremony
Chinese Olympic Committee President Gao Zhidan made the first speech at the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games. Host of Asiad 20 receives torch and flag
The representative of the host country of the 19th Asian Games, China, handed over the torch and flag of the Olympic Council of Asia to Mr. Raja Randhir to forward to the representative of Nagoya, Japan. Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture is the host of the 2026 Asian Games (Asiad 20).

Nagoya is the fourth largest city and third most prosperous city in Japan. Located on the Pacific coast, in the Chubu region of central Honshu, it is the administrative center of Aichi Prefecture and one of Japan's 15 national cities.

As usual, the host of the next Asian Games will have artistic performances to welcome the upcoming event. Nagoya will introduce dances and violins with unique Japanese culture. In particular, the performance of Japanese artists will also combine with technology when giants appear on the screen.

On the stage, children were seen holding yellow laurel flowers, singing like at the opening ceremony, and the giant appeared next to the fire. When the giant and the children formed a heart shape by putting their hands over their heads, the 19th Asiad fire was extinguished.

Finally, the digital fireworks display concluded the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games. This year, the 19th Asian Games did not use real fireworks for the purpose of protecting the environment. Both the opening and closing ceremonies used digital fireworks and only TV viewers could watch them.
Impressive numbers: 38 delegations won medals at the 19th Asian Games. More than 12,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories attended the 19th Asian Games, competing in 40 events. 38 teams won medals. China topped the list with 201 gold medals, 111 silver medals and 71 bronze medals. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation won 3 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 19 bronze medals, ranking 21st on the medal tally. |
