TPO - Inspecting the Long Thanh airport project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: “We consider this a symbolic project. I propose that the project be basically completed by December 31, 2025. We have experience, we have shortened the time of many projects, we have grown and matured step by step”.
On the afternoon of September 24, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the progress of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project and the Long Thanh International Airport (HKKQT) Project in Dong Nai province.
Reporting to the Prime Minister, Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Deputy Minister of Transport - said that the progress of the implementation of the component projects of the Long Thanh International Airport Project is being closely followed by contractors, ensuring the commitment to the Government to bring the project to the finish line on schedule.
According to the leader of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the construction progress of the main items of Component Project 3 is being accelerated, ensuring the goal of completion and putting into operation in 2026.

To ensure the joint and synchronous exploitation of the entire Long Thanh International Airport Project Phase 1, ACV requests ministries, departments and branches to accelerate the implementation of Component Projects 4. In particular, priority is given to projects directly related to the exploitation activities of Long Thanh International Airport such as cargo terminal No. 2, express cargo terminal, cargo warehouse No. 1, aircraft catering area, ground service vehicle maintenance area, aircraft maintenance and cleaning area.
According to ACV, when completed, Long Thanh International Airport will have a traffic volume of 80% of international passengers traveling to and from Ho Chi Minh City, so the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway is one of the important factors for Long Thanh International Airport to be put into operation and operate effectively. ACV recommends that the Government pay attention to directing the acceleration of the project to expand the expressway connecting Long Thanh International Airport with Ho Chi Minh City to ensure the effectiveness of the project when put into operation.
ACV also proposed to build runway No. 2 and level terminal T3 to minimize environmental pollution when the airport comes into operation.

On the local side, Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc said that Dong Nai province has so far completed the site clearance for the Long Thanh International Airport project, routes T1 and T2 connecting the airport. Regarding the site handover progress, the section through Long Thanh district has been basically handed over, with only over 6km of the section through Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai province) remaining. Bien Hoa (Dong Nai province) committed to basically completing the site clearance for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway by October 15.
The Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also proposed that the Government approve the policy of assigning the Ministry of Transport and ACV to carry out phase 2 of leveling the ground of Terminal T3 to avoid pollution when the airport is put into operation and ensure aviation security; the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment supports Dong Nai on regulations for mining and leveling, allowing for the rapid expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway.

In his speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended Dong Nai province for completing the handover of the site, and commended the Ministry of Transport, ACV and contractors for their efforts to overcome difficulties and speed up the construction progress of the Long Thanh International Airport project.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the people in the project area for giving up their farming land and birthplace so that the government could carry out the project. The Prime Minister asked the leaders of Dong Nai province to continue to care for the people's lives with the spirit of having a life at least equal to or better than their old place of residence.
Regarding the Long Thanh International Airport project, the Prime Minister stated: “We have identified this as a symbolic project. I propose that by December 31, 2025, the project be basically completed to celebrate the country’s major holidays. We have experience, we have shortened the time of many projects, we have grown and matured step by step.”
The Prime Minister requested that at the construction site, we must work overtime, work in shifts, and adjust progress, requiring us to be highly determined, work with a focus on key points, arrange scientifically, assign people, time, and work clearly with a strong spirit; review foreign contracts, control construction quality; ensure safety and environmental sanitation; care for workers, their spiritual and material lives. Ministries and branches must speed up progress, conduct parallel audits to avoid errors.
The Government leader also agreed to immediately implement the plan to build runway number 2 and requested the Ministry of Transport to submit the appraisal documents, and the Government Office to register to add it to the National Assembly's working program.
