Nghe An has just achieved the highest economic growth in the past 5 years.

On the afternoon of April 9, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a press conference on the socio-economic, national defense and security situation in the first quarter of 2025 and key tasks and solutions in the second quarter of 2025.

At the press conference, a representative of Nghe An Department of Finance informed that in the first quarter of 2025, sectors and levels will focus on directing the implementation of the 2025 Plan, developing growth scenarios, and setting out key tasks and solutions for direction and management. In the first quarter, the socio-economic situation continued to maintain growth momentum, achieving positive results in all sectors and fields.

Specifically, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate in the province in the first quarter is estimated at 8% (ranked 2nd in the North Central region), 5th out of 14 localities in the North Central and Central Coast regions and 27th nationwide. This is the highest growth rate in the first quarter in the past 5 years. Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 5.02%; the industry and construction sector increased by 11% (industry alone increased by 11.07%); the service sector increased by 7.02%; product taxes minus product subsidies increased by 7.02%.

In the first quarter, the state budget revenue in Nghe An is estimated at VND6,311 billion, reaching 35.6% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council, equal to 99.9% of the same period. Of which, domestic revenue is VND5,954 billion, reaching 37.2% of the estimate; revenue from import-export activities is VND293.6 billion, reaching 18% of the estimate. Local budget expenditure is VND12,144.8 billion, reaching 28.9% of the estimate.

Regarding public investment, Nghe An province was assigned more than 10 trillion VND in 2025. Of which, 9,027 billion VND has been allocated in detail and 976.1 billion VND has not been allocated. By the end of the first quarter, the disbursement rate of public investment capital in 2025 reached 14.85%, higher than the average disbursement rate of the whole country.

As of March 31, Nghe An province has approved investment policies/issued investment registration certificates for 10 projects with a total investment of more than VND2,220 billion, and adjusted 38 projects. Of which, the capital adjustment for 10 projects has increased the total investment by VND4,496.1 billion. The total newly granted and increased investment capital is VND6,719.6 billion, of which foreign direct investment (FDI) has newly granted 3 projects with a total registered investment capital of USD55 million; adjusted capital for 4 projects with a total investment increased by USD56.9 million. The total newly granted and adjusted capital is USD111.9 million.

Notably, in the first quarter, Nghe An completed procedures and granted the investment policy decision for the VSIP Nghe An 3 Industrial Park project with a registered investment capital of 52.5 million USD.

In the first quarter, the province established 573 new enterprises, up 7.5% over the same period with a total registered capital of VND2,610 billion. There were 254 enterprises returning to operation, down 61 enterprises over the same period.
