On the morning of April 4, two key manufacturing enterprises of TH Group were officially awarded carbon neutral certification according to PAS 2060:2014 standard by Control Union, an independent and prestigious international certification organization.
Accordingly, the carbon neutral data of TH Milk Joint Stock Company and Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited were confirmed to be in accordance with the requirements of PAS 2060:2014 - a technical standard developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI). This is a recognized, standardized and transparent approach worldwide.
The report shows that TH Milk Joint Stock Company neutralized 26,670.14 tons of CO2 while the result at Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited was 11,631.68 tons of CO2 .
“Currently, only a few companies in Vietnam have been certified as carbon neutral, and two of them belong to TH Group, which is remarkable. These are also the first two companies that our Control Union organization has awarded the certificate to in Vietnam. This achievement is proof that sustainable development can be implemented and achieved when businesses prioritize long-term environmental strategies,” said Mr. Wouter Melis van Ravenhorst after awarding the certificate.
According to Mr. Wouter Melis van Ravenhorst, Control Union and TH Group have cooperated since 2015, starting with organic inspection and certification for organic dairy farms.
“Over the years, we have witnessed TH’s continuous efforts in implementing sustainable production and agricultural activities. Today, when awarding this Carbon Neutral Certification, we welcome their pioneering role in promoting environmental responsibility,” affirmed Mr. Wouter Melis van Ravenhorst.
To achieve carbon neutrality, TH Milk Joint Stock Company and Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited have promoted activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through effective solutions to reduce energy use, switch to green energy, improve equipment and technology; and effectively manage waste.
For TH Milk Joint Stock Company, in 2023, the TH true MILK fresh milk factory operated by the company stopped running FO oil (fossil fuel) boilers and completely replaced them with biomass boilers, helping to reduce emissions by more than 80%. This initiative alone helps reduce more than 7,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.

In addition, all metal halide lamps at the factory have been replaced with LED lamps, helping to save electricity. The factory roof system is also equipped with skylight panels, allowing 85% of natural light to pass through, reducing lighting electricity.
The factory has applied a series of initiatives to both reduce emissions and improve production efficiency, such as: installing frequency converters to control cold storage compressors, replacing low-efficiency blowers with high-efficiency air blowers using Turbo Blower technology; resetting the compressed air pressure used on production lines; installing steam valve insulation, etc.

Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited focuses on plastic reduction solutions such as eliminating shrink wrap on bottle caps, reducing the weight of plastic in each bottle, and reducing the thickness of plastic labels. Thanks to this chain of solutions, the company reduces about 600 tons of plastic per year.

In addition, the company also implements many solutions in the energy sector. In 2025, Nui Tien will prioritize fuel conversion from boiler combustion with DO oil (fossil fuel) to using biomass fuel (wood, rice husks, sawdust - by-products from the wood processing industry).
Thanks to the consistent and consistent efforts, TH Milk Joint Stock Company and Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited achieved carbon neutral status according to PAS 2060:2014 standard for phase 1 from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. The two units of TH Group are committed to maintaining carbon neutral status for the next phase from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2028.

In addition to internal efforts, TH Group also supports and accompanies projects to reduce emissions and increase energy efficiency certified according to international standards, to make up for the missing carbon neutrality.
Not only fully complying with the provisions of PAS 2060:2014, the carbon offset projects that TH Milk Joint Stock Company and Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited have chosen are all aimed at supporting and bringing social, environmental and economic benefits, helping to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In addition, TH also offsets carbon through renewable energy certificates (IRECs), contributing to the development of Vietnam's green energy projects - specifically wind power - and contributing to the development of the domestic carbon market.
Sharing with the press on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Pham Chi Kien, Secretary of Nghia Dan District Party Committee, said: “We are very proud that two factories of TH Group located in the area have achieved the prestigious international carbon neutral certificate. Not only contributing to the budget, creating jobs for local people; the sustainable development activities of the two enterprises also create new livelihoods for people, such as collecting wood chips to sell as biomass fuel for boilers. We hope that there will be more such enterprises in the local area in particular and the whole province in general.” |
