Launch of State Bank Branch Region 13

BDK.VN - On March 21, 2025, in My Tho City, the State Bank organized the announcement of the decision to establish and launch the State Bank Branch Region 13.

The program was attended by Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Thi Hong, representatives of leaders of the provinces and cities: Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh. On Ben Tre side, there was the participation of Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ben Tre province Nguyen Truc Son and representatives of relevant departments, branches and units.

Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairwoman of the People's Council of Ben Tre province Ho Thi Hoang Yen and leaders of the provinces attended the ceremony to announce the decision to establish and launch the State Bank of Vietnam Branch Region 13.

Accordingly, implementing the policy of restructuring and streamlining the organizational apparatus, the State Bank of Vietnam has reorganized 63 provincial State Banks into branches in 15 regions. On February 24, 2025, the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam issued Decision No. 313/QD-NHNN on the establishment, regulations on functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the State Bank Region 13, under the State Bank of Vietnam on the basis of merging the State Banks of Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces.

Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Thi Hong presented flowers to Director of the State Bank Region 13 Pham Minh Tu, deputy directors and individuals receiving appointment decisions.

State Bank Region 13 is headquartered in My Tho City, Tien Giang Province and has 3 transaction points in Long An, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces. State Bank Region 13 officially came into operation on March 1, 2025, consisting of 7 functional departments with a total of 148 civil servants, performing the function of state management of currency, banking and foreign exchange activities in the area.

The Governor of the State Bank also appointed Mr. Pham Minh Tu as Director of the State Bank Branch Region 13, and appointed Mr. Le Cong Thanh, Mr. Le Van Hai, Ms. Le Thi My Hien and Ms. Nguyen Thi Dam as deputy directors.

The Board of Directors and individuals appointed at the State Bank Branch Region 13 took a photo with the Governor of the State Bank and leaders of the provinces.

In 2024, Tien Giang, Long An, Ben Tre, and Tra Vinh provinces recorded positive GRDP growth, ranging from 5.68% to 10.04%. Contributing to this result, credit activities in the area continued to grow steadily. The entire region 13 has 96 credit institutions with a network of 592 transaction points, 910 ATMs, and 3,869 POS machines in operation.

By the end of 2024, total outstanding regional debt will reach over VND363.9 trillion, up 8.26% compared to 2023. By the end of January 2025, total outstanding regional credit will reach over VND364 trillion, up 0.1%, with a bad debt ratio of 1.98%. Average lending interest rates will decrease by 1.56%, making it easier for businesses and people to access capital. Credit continues to be allocated to key sectors such as agriculture, industry and services. State-owned commercial banks will continue to play a leading role with 63.8% of total outstanding regional debt.

Entering 2025, the State Bank of Region 13 has identified a series of key solutions, including continuing to effectively implement specific credit policies under the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, lowering lending interest rates, simplifying credit procedures, supporting businesses in accessing capital and promoting disbursement of public investment capital. The regional credit growth target is set at a minimum of 9.22%, of which Ben Tre is expected to reach 12.86%, Tien Giang 10.7%, Tra Vinh 7.77% and Long An 6.88%...
