Specifically, the main targets are: Economic growth reaches 6.7% or more; GRDP per capita reaches 81.6 million VND/person; the growth rate of agricultural production value reaches 1.52% and industry increases by 10% or more; attracting 9.2 million tourists to visit and travel with total revenue reaching 16,900 billion VND; total budget revenue is over 16,900 billion VND; total social development investment capital reaches 45,000 billion VND; the poverty rate according to multidimensional standards remains below 2%...
The People's Council of Kien Giang province, term X, 2021 - 2026, held its 20th session.
In 2024, the province will implement policies to help control inflation, stabilize the economy, and create a foundation for rapid and sustainable development. Strengthen discipline and order in public investment management, bidding, construction, capital payment, and resolutely implement disbursement solutions, investment preparation, and site clearance.
The province synchronously and effectively implements administrative reform, improves the business environment, creates conditions for the development of economic sectors, and enhances competitiveness in the province. Promotes the settlement of administrative procedures in the electronic environment, publicizes and makes transparent preferential policies to people and businesses to attract investment combined with enhancing digital transformation.
In addition, the province continues to review, adjust, supplement and effectively implement projects and plans to serve the restructuring of the agricultural sector associated with new rural construction.
Focus on restructuring production scale, building specialized areas, key areas for agricultural commodity production and implementation roadmap according to the province's key industries, focusing on rice and aquatic products.
Specifically, the project on restructuring the agricultural sector, the project on developing organic agriculture for the period 2021-2030, the plan for developing high-tech agriculture, the project on producing agricultural, forestry and fishery varieties, the project on developing concentrated fruit tree production areas to ensure food safety, traceability associated with processing and consumption markets until 2030, the project on developing sustainable livestock farming for the period 2021-2025 and orientation to 2030, the project on the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program...

In particular, developing the organic rice - shrimp model, concentrated in the districts of U Minh Thuong, Go Quao, Hon Dat, Kien Luong... Maintaining stable rice output and producing high-quality rice, producing rice in large fields, according to the value chain, in a sustainable, safe, organic direction adapting to climate change.
Continue to convert ineffective rice-growing land to a model of growing crops and fruit trees, with some key crops suitable for each locality such as: pineapple, various fruit trees, etc.
Kien Giang province continues to promote restructuring of the fisheries sector, ensuring a stable and appropriate structure between exploitation, aquaculture and seafood processing.
In particular, strongly develop aquaculture, with key products according to market demand suitable to the conditions of each ecological region, form concentrated aquaculture areas with large scale and area, create large-scale products for export and domestic consumption.
Next, the province promotes the development of coastal, island and offshore aquaculture, some aquaculture species have great potential and high economic value such as: Cobia, goby, pearl, carrageenan... effectively implementing the project to develop marine aquaculture in a sustainable direction in Kien Giang province until 2030.
In addition, the province continues to promote support for businesses to recover and develop production through investment support policies and capital from socio-economic recovery programs, especially in the processing and manufacturing sector.
Review the investment situation of key industrial projects in the province, especially projects with high added value; promptly remove difficulties and obstacles so that projects can soon come into operation to increase new production capacity, creating room for growth.
Speed up the completion of planning procedures and prioritize the development of deep processing factories for agricultural and aquatic products right in available raw material areas, associated with synchronous planning for the development of raw material areas, especially marine aquaculture and industrial shrimp farming areas.

At the same time, Kien Giang province has stepped up promotion, calling for and attracting investment in industrial development, associated with effective implementation of trade promotion programs, trade and export connection of key products. Effectively implementing the project to restructure the tourism industry in Kien Giang province to meet the requirements of developing into a spearhead economic sector.
Focus on implementing the project of developing community tourism, developing rural tourism associated with the OCOP program, developing traditional industry products associated with tourism, exploiting quality agricultural products, traditional products associated with tourism development and services.
Chairman of the People's Council of Kien Giang province Mai Van Huynh said that in implementing the tasks in 2023, although there are still many difficulties and challenges, with the province's efforts and determination, the province's economy grew by 6.79%, achieving and exceeding 23/24 targets assigned by the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council.

At the meeting, the People's Council of Kien Giang province passed 19 resolutions on important areas affecting socio-economic development and people's lives.
The Provincial People's Council held a question and answer session with the directors of departments. The questions focused on issues of concern to voters in the province and delegates such as: Security, social safety, traffic, land use rights, lack of medicine, food poisoning, surplus and shortage of teachers, etc.
In particular, the People's Council requested the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments to fulfill their promises to the People's Council delegates, voters and people in the province.
