Mr. Thai Ngoc Dao (70 years old, in Bac Hoan Don residential group, Ba To town) is one of the poor households facing housing difficulties. Recently, the Ba To district government organized a groundbreaking ceremony to build a solid house for Mr. Dao's family with an area of 36 square meters, with a support amount of 60 million VND.

Quang Ngai province has set a target of eliminating all temporary and dilapidated houses in the area by 2025. In particular, the mountainous district of Ba To is the locality that will pilot and complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses first. The target is to complete the program before March 11, 2025.

Through review, Ba To district currently has about 650 houses that need to be rebuilt or repaired. This is a rather heavy and urgent task because there is not much time left to carry out the task. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the strength of the great solidarity bloc in mobilizing cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and people of all walks of life to actively respond to and carry out the emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

“Ba To district joins hands and hearts, mobilizes the highest social resources, along with State resources to strive to complete housing support for people with revolutionary contributions; determined to eliminate all temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the district before March 10, 2025” - Chairman of Ba To district People's Committee Pham Giang Nam emphasized.

Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is one of the major policies of the Party and State to help the poor escape poverty and stabilize their lives. In Quang Ngai province, since 2021, it has supported the construction and repair of houses for more than 9,000 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties with a total cost of nearly 400 billion VND.

However, the rate of poor and near-poor households in Quang Ngai province is still high, and the lives of a part of the people, especially those in rural areas, mountainous areas, and islands, are still difficult.

According to statistics, the whole province still has about 9,800 households with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives; poor households, near-poor households, households negatively affected by natural disasters and climate change living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses, unsafe houses or no houses.

It is expected that by 2025, through national target programs, from the State budget, mobilizing social resources, the province will support housing for poor and near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs.

In the context of the province's limited resources, Quang Ngai really needs the cooperation of the whole society to implement the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

On behalf of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van called on agencies, units, localities, cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces, and people from all walks of life inside and outside the province to actively support in the spirit of "compatriot love, national love".

"Whoever has something should help, whoever has merit should help merit, whoever has property should help property, whoever has a lot should help a lot, whoever has a little should help a little, together, join hands to support the elimination of temporary houses, dilapidated houses, especially households with meritorious services to the revolution, poor households, near-poor households, households living in areas with especially difficult economic conditions, areas frequently affected by natural disasters, with the motto "no one is left behind" - Secretary of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van said.

Responding to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, up to now, agencies, localities, enterprises inside and outside the province; officials and people in the province have registered to support with a total budget of 242.38 billion VND.

Hoa Phat Group donated 30 billion VND to Quang Ngai province to implement the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

According to the plan, Quang Ngai will support cases of temporary and dilapidated houses with a budget of 60 million VND/household for new construction and 30 million VND/household for repair.

Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ngai Province Vo Thanh An shared: "Voters in the province are very excited about the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by 2025, demonstrating the spirit of "mutual love and affection", "national love and compatriotism" of our people".
