Cocoa prices in Dong Nai are fluctuating at 13,500 - 14,700 VND/kg. After deducting costs, 1 hectare of cocoa can help farmers earn more than half a billion VND.
Cocoa prices continue to hit records
In 2024, the price of fresh cocoa fruit fluctuates from 11,000 - 12,000 VND/kg, 2-3 times higher than in 2023. Currently, the price of fresh cocoa fruit has increased to 13,500 - 14,700 VND/kg.
The increase in cocoa prices has made people in the cocoa cooperative in Trung Hoa commune, Trang Bom district (Dong Nai) very excited.

Mr. Pham Thanh Lap - Head of Trung Hoa Cocoa Cooperative Group said that on average, each hectare yields 30 - 35 tons. If well cared for, a cocoa garden can yield up to 50 tons.
Currently, cocoa prices are high, on average, farmers earn 700 million VND per hectare. "After deducting about 50 million VND in expenses, farmers still make a profit of more than 600 million VND," Mr. Lap shared.
Trung Hoa Cocoa Cooperative currently has more than 100 hectares. Members of the group are participating in the production chain with Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited.
Mr. Lap shared that members trust the purchasing process as well as the responsibility for technical support from the company in the chain. In 2025, the cooperative will have many farmers joining the group and registering to plant another 100 hectares.

Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh - Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited (Dinh Quan district) said that according to world market prices, after nearly 70 years, this year cocoa prices set a new record.

In Dong Nai, the newly planted area has increased in the past 3 years. The output in 2024 increased by 25% compared to last year, mainly thanks to people planting and caring for it according to better technical processes.
"To meet the people's demand for expanding production, Trong Duc Cocoa Company is also focusing on developing more seedlings than every year," said Mr. Khanh.
The Trung Hoa cocoa cooperative, Trang Bom district, has over 100 hectares, with 65 members. About 60 hectares of cocoa of the cooperative are being harvested.
Mr. Pham Thanh Lap, Head of the Trung Hoa Commune Cocoa Cooperative, said that cocoa trees are easy to grow. Thanks to proper cocoa care techniques, cocoa productivity of members is stable, reaching 30-45 tons/ha.
According to Mr. Lap, the past year has been a period of many fluctuations for farmers and cocoa growing and processing businesses in Dong Nai.

From the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2025, cocoa prices will increase. The cost of fertilizer and care for 1 hectare is about 50 million VND. After deducting costs, farmers will make a profit of about 400 million VND/ha.
"In particular, the cocoa harvest before the recent Lunar New Year helped many people have money to prepare for a full Tet holiday," said Mr. Lap.
Trang Bom District Economic Department said that the cocoa area in the district is about 350 hectares, concentrated in Trung Hoa, Dong Hoa and An Vien communes.
According to the fluctuating cocoa price from 2024 to present, it is estimated that 1 hectare of cocoa with an average yield of about 40 tons/year; after deducting investment costs, farmers can earn a profit of 400 - 500 million VND.
