Training - action
Mr. Nguyen Minh Quoc's garden (Huong Tra block, Hoa Huong ward, Tam Ky city) is 3,000 square meters wide. Previously, it was a mixed garden. In some crops, he planted sesame and beans but they were not effective.
Since the city started organizing the Sua flower festival, more and more tourists have come to Huong Tra to experience it. They wander around to see the hundred-year-old Sua trees and then hang around the riverside lawn without knowing where else to go.
Thinking that his garden would also be shady and could be a resting place for tourists, Mr. Quoc decided to invest in renovating the mixed garden. He registered with the ward to participate in building an ecological garden house, linking agricultural economy and tourism. He cleared wild plants, planted grapefruit, jackfruit and Taiwanese guava.

“I attended a training course on how to welcome tourists and regularly keep my garden clean. During the recent festival season, many tourists visited my garden. Everyone in the house was very welcoming, introducing the fruits in the garden to tourists, offering them drinks and picking fruits for them to try. Some people even bought guava to take home,” said Mr. Quoc.
According to Mr. Ho Minh Son - Chairman of Hoa Huong Ward People's Committee, Mr. Quoc is one of 9 ecological garden owners who registered to renovate the garden as a stopover for tourists in Huong Tra as part of the local project to build Huong Tra ecological tourism village.
Taking advantage of the peaceful landscape, 100-year-old rosewood trees, village roads and cool river, Hoa Huong has promoted and mobilized people to join hands in community tourism.
In 2023, Tam Ky City coordinated with Da Nang City Green Technology Institute to organize a 2-day training course for people with contents such as raising community awareness about tourism networks, self-assessment of community resources in tourism, practice building tourism programs, community learning...

“In addition, to gain the cooperation of the people in developing tourism in Huong Tra, the ward has also carried out many propaganda campaigns, promoting the spirit of setting an example for each subject. In the coming time, Huong Tra will establish a tourism cooperative, including members with homestays, garden houses, traditional occupations, and cuisine to participate in professionalizing the development of community tourism,” said Mr. Son.
Change your mindset
Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a training course on homestay business skills for people in Bac Tra My district. The purpose of the training course is to improve the knowledge and necessary skills so that people who are or plan to do homestay business can deploy home-stay services to ensure safety and quality.

More than 30 trainees participated in the training course which took place over 6 days, including households in the Muong Village community tourism village (Tra Giang commune), Cao Son Cultural Village (Tra Son commune), Noc So Ro (Tra Bui commune), Vi Stream eco-tourism site (Tra Kot commune), Tien River eco-tourism site (Tra Kot)...
The training course focuses on teaching some basic communication skills with tourists from receiving, processing and supporting customers in booking. Teaching low-cost marketing methods to attract more tourists. Learning how to prepare dishes and mix some drinks to serve tourists.
In particular, students also practice the process of providing quality accommodation services to tourists in family conditions. For eco-tourism destinations located far from urban centers, developing accommodation services is an important basis for attracting tourists.
According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Hang - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Bac Tra My district, the training course is an important premise, changing people's thinking about how to make money from tourism, so that the locality can exploit plans to build each community eco-tourism area in the future.

In the immediate future, in 2024, the locality will orient towards developing community tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural values in Muong Village (Tra Cang commune).
In particular, focusing on developing quality rural tourism human resources with training programs and learning from other localities' experiences, improving professional skills, soft skills, and tourism knowledge for participating organizations, individuals, and communities. Especially building a professional, friendly, safe, and civilized tourism culture.
“The most difficult thing in doing community tourism is to generate desire from the community. No matter how much the government invests, if the people do not join hands, it will never be successful.
Therefore, when developing the tourism development project in Muong Village in 2024, we value the human factor, change people's thinking, and move towards a sustainable tourism model," Ms. Hang added.
