On the morning of December 29, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held the 2023 Military-Political Conference for the entire army. President Vo Van Thuong attended and directed the conference.
President Vo Van Thuong assessed that in 2023, the entire army thoroughly grasped, concretized, and had many methodical, flexible, and creative measures and methods in organization and implementation, creating comprehensive and solid changes in all areas of work.

Regarding the direction and tasks for 2024, President Vo Van Thuong requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to perform well the strategic advisory function to the Party and State on military and national defense; be proactive, sensitive, improve research and forecasting capacity, have flexible and effective response strategies to situations, avoid being passive and surprised; continue to advise on the promulgation of guidelines, policies and laws on military and national defense, meeting requirements and tasks in new conditions.
The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense continue to thoroughly grasp the policy of all-people national defense, people's war, and national defense in the new situation, with the viewpoint of relying on the people, the people being the root, the center, and the subject. The entire army focuses on improving overall quality and combat strength; strictly maintaining combat readiness, managing, and firmly protecting the airspace, sea, border, inland, and cyberspace, firmly protecting sovereignty and territory.
The President also requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the Central Committee's guidelines and directions on Party building and rectification, on controlling power and preventing and combating corruption and negativity; promptly perfecting Party committees, Party organizations, command organizations, and cadres at all levels in line with the roadmap for adjusting the force organization...
