The exercise is under the theme: Gia Lai province organizes prevention and response to natural disasters, rescue and relief due to storms; puts the armed forces into combat readiness states; puts localities into defense states; organizes preparations and practices for defensive operations, firmly protecting the province. The exercise aims to improve the leadership, direction and management level of Party committees and authorities; the advisory capacity of the armed forces, departments, branches, sectors and organizations; promptly handle situations, maintain political security and stability, and create favorable conditions for local socio-economic development.
Speaking at the opening of the exercise, Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 5, emphasized that the provincial and municipal defense zone exercise is an extremely important content in the activities and construction of defense zones; has a very special and comprehensive nature; is related to all political, economic, social, defense and security fields of the locality. Through the exercise, continue to study, supplement and adjust the province's defense combat plan; build a system of plans to ensure defense and security and ensure the first year of war in accordance with the characteristics, situation and tasks of the locality, meeting the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, "early, from afar", not to be passive or surprised in any situation.
The Commander of Military Region 5 requested that the steering committee, the steering committee agency, and the director of the military region must direct and operate the exercise in accordance with the approved plan; monitor the forces participating in the exercise to properly and fully implement the contents and components; promote the dynamism and creativity of the trainees; not replace the trainees; not greatly affect the common activities of the locality; not let reactionary and hostile forces take advantage of distortion and sabotage; continue to guide and direct the training of the forces participating in the exercise flexibly, closely following reality, in accordance with the intentions of the military region, achieving the set goals and requirements, ensuring secrecy, safety, and economy.
On the same morning, the Military Region 5 Command presented funds to build gratitude houses for two policy families in Ia Grai district with a total value of 160 million VND.
GL-23 is scheduled to take place from May 18 to 20.
