Assessing the current situation on the front, Deputy Brigade Commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Maxim Zhorin, said that the Ukrainian Army is at its most dangerous limit since Russia began its special military operation in 2022.

The Ukrainian military commander admitted that since 2022, the Russian Army has undergone significant changes and has become more professional. Maxim Zhorin emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces are preparing for a large-scale offensive on all fronts.
“We are losing a lot of time, delaying the mobilization, and the enemy is preparing for a new stage of the fighting. We do not know the exact scenarios of the enemy’s attacks in Kharkov, Kherson, Donbass or the entire front, as well as some directions of attacks from the northern border, but it is certain that they are preparing for an attack,” said Commander of the Ukrainian Army Maxim Zhorin.
Former Pentagon adviser Douglas McGregor previously predicted Russia’s military capabilities, suggesting that Kharkiv and Odessa would “change hands.” Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said there would be “nice and pleasant” changes after May 9, but did not specify what they would be. He said the Russian military would take control of Odessa and Kharkiv this month and force Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky to sign a surrender document.
Meanwhile, retired AFU general Sergei Krivonos told Espreso TV channel that the Russian Army could launch an attack on Sumy and Kharkov, leading to the AFU having to withdraw to the north of the country.
On all fronts, the AFU is facing many difficulties due to Russia's superiority in artillery and manpower.
“The attack on Kharkov and Sumy could have taken us away from the eastern front. And they did it quite effectively,” General Sergei Krivonos assessed.
Regarding the battlefield situation, at the Avdeevka front, Russian assault units began to attack the village of Novoprokovsky, which was located deep behind the front line and the AFU had not yet built a solid defense system. To stop the Russian advance, the AFU organized a counterattack to hold and quickly built up defense positions in the settlements. However, the offensive activities of Russian soldiers continued. Behind Novoprokopovsky was Novoselovka Pervaya, the most important logistics center of the Ukrainian army on this front.

Currently, Russian 2nd line units are clearing the forest belt between Ocheretine and Arkhangelske and opening the road towards Novoaleksandrivka.
In the Kupiansk - Svatove direction, the Russian Army took control of Kyslivka, which, combined with the capture of Kotliarivka, opened up the possibility of cutting the R-07 highway and putting pressure on Tabaiivka and Stepova Novosilka.
In the direction of Siversk, the AFU was pushed out of its northern stronghold of Vesele.
Meanwhile, on the Bakhmut front, fighting continues in the vicinity of Chasov Yar. Russian troops are trying to reach the Server Donetsk Canal and block all Ukrainian reinforcements to the settlements on the right side of the canal.
In the direction of Vremyvka, fighting was recorded in the southern suburbs of Urozhayne and the western part of Staromaiorske. The Russian side is trying to increase the area of control and prepare for further offensive operations on the center of the settlement. In the western part of Staramaiorsk, the Russian army has captured the fields adjacent to the city outskirts to improve the tactical position for further military actions.
In Krasnohorivka, Russian units advanced right in front of the hospital in the east of the town and surrounded dozens of Ukrainian infantrymen in the area.
Meanwhile, according to Russia's RIA Novosti news agency, several large explosions were recorded in the port city of Odessa. This was Russia's response to the suicide drone attack on the Belgorod region.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Tactical Air Force destroyed Western weapons depots in the Odessa region with high-precision weapons and missiles. An AFU fuel depot and a factory producing rocket fuel and weapons for UAVs were also attacked.
Related damages continue to be recorded.
