On October 26, at the Government Guest House, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
The two Ministers expressed their delight at witnessing the increasingly deep and substantial development of cooperation in various fields between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect, trust and mutual benefit; on that basis, they agreed to move towards bringing the Vietnam - Thailand Strategic Partnership to a new height.
The two sides discussed directions for close coordination with relevant ministries and branches of the two countries, promoting effective implementation of important bilateral cooperation areas on the basis of the Action Program to implement the Enhanced Strategic Partnership for the 2022-2027 period.
Accordingly, promote delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the joint Cabinet meeting mechanism and the Joint Committee on bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to coordinate to arrange a suitable time for the Thai Prime Minister's official visit to Vietnam, and to join Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in chairing the 4th Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting.
The two sides also pledged to further strengthen cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries, including considering restoring the Consular Consultation mechanism and establishing a hotline between the heads of regional departments of the two sides to promptly discuss issues of mutual concern.
In terms of economy, trade and investment, the two sides agreed to continue efforts and strive to soon reach the target of 25 billion USD in bilateral trade turnover by reducing trade barriers and further opening up to each other's goods; promoting economic, infrastructure, science and technology connectivity and contributing to ensuring the supply chain through promoting the implementation of the "Three Connectivity" Strategy; and strengthening cooperation in new areas such as digital economy, e-commerce and green energy.
The two Ministers supported the development of road and waterway transport routes, as well as increasing the number of flights connecting Vietnam and Thailand; promoting negotiations and signing of cooperation documents in other important areas such as agriculture, labor and maritime cooperation.
The two sides expressed support for strengthening bilateral defense and security cooperation; reaffirmed their commitment to not allowing any individual or organization to use the territory of one country to oppose the other.
Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated Thailand's facilitation of the establishment of the Vietnam Street and the Vietnam Research Center in Udon Thani province; suggested that the two sides continue to cooperate to preserve and promote the value of President Ho Chi Minh's relic sites and Vietnamese pagodas in Thailand; support Thai and Vietnamese language teaching programs in each country; encourage the building of cooperative relations and twinning between localities of the two countries, creating a solid foundation to promote people-to-people exchanges and business connections.
