Unlike artificial intelligence (AI) TVs equipped with pure AI features in software algorithms, AI TVs are integrated with AI processing chips that recognize, process language, images, and deeply understand usage and search habits to better serve users.

Vivid images

AI has now penetrated into every field, device, even household appliances such as televisions in many countries. Since the beginning of 2024, this trend has spread to Vietnam.

In mid-March, Samsung Vina Electronics introduced its first AI TVs to users. The Samsung 2024 TV series has upgraded AI screens through a new generation AI processor. In addition to outstanding improvements in image quality and sound refined by AI, the new product lines also have security features by Samsung Knox and power saving by AI.

For example, the Neo QLED 8K (2024) QN900D TV, which has just been launched in Vietnam for VND 219,900,000 (85 inches), has been upgraded to provide a comprehensive experience with lifelike image quality, high-quality sound, and a variety of applications and services. This device is equipped with twice the processing speed, 8 times the number of neural networks than the previous generation (from 64 to 512), optimizing sharpness for all displayed content regardless of the input source. In addition, Neo QLED 8K also integrates many other AI features to enhance image quality such as upgrading image quality from any source to 8K, automatically recognizing and upgrading images, adding details to fast-moving scenes. At the same time, the device also delivers more accurate sound thanks to AI audio technology to optimize conversation sound based on ambient background sound analysis, synchronize sound with on-screen actions, and fine-tune sound according to content...

LG has also applied AI to its high-end TVs with two features: AI Picture Pro (AIPP) and AI Sound Pro (AISP) to process images and sounds. AISP upgrades the sound to be clear, filling the room, virtual 9.1.2 surround sound immerses users in the movie or game, as if they can hear the sound of fighter planes flying overhead, the sound of hurried footsteps behind them, or the echo of the orchestra at the climax. AIPP upgrades the self-illuminating pixels of LG OLED to be brighter than before.

TCL also invested in AI on TVs by developing the AI AiPQ Pro integrated image processor and the TCL algorithm to process 4K content stably. At CES Las Vegas 2024, TCL impressed when it demonstrated the QM89 TV with a 115-inch screen, the world's largest Mini-LED TV today. The world's fourth-largest brand Hisense also joined the AI game on TVs by developing the Hisense Hi-View Engine AI processor to improve audiovisual quality and know "deep learning" to meet the TV viewing preferences of each family member.

Upgrade SD, HD to 4K, 8K

The practical benefit for TV users to experience right from the "magic hand" of AI is to upgrade the image and sound quality "beyond the usual standard".

According to TechRadar, the integration of AI into 2024 TV lines is mainly for image upgrading. 4K TVs have 8.3 million pixels on the screen, 8K TVs have 33 million pixels. Since most of the content viewed on 8K TVs is currently in 4K or regular HD resolution, millions of new pixels will be created by AI to fill the ultra-high resolution screen of 8K TVs. Similar to image processing on 4K TVs, the 8K AI Upscaling Pro feature in Samsung's 8K TVs references a visual database to create those pixels, and it also uses "Quantum Super Resolution" technology to process images on a frame-by-frame basis to ensure that lines look smooth and small details are not exaggerated. With 4K AI TVs, upgrading images from HD, SD to 4K standard is also handled similarly.

However, in the early stages, to own an AI TV, users have to spend a lot of money, but in 2024, users can still have a "classy AI" experience that is much better than Smart TVs that support AI applications. That is thanks to the common processors used in many new-generation smart TVs that have been improved, providing AI-supported features.

Experts note that AI will be most effective on TVs with ultra-high resolution from 8K and above and with extremely large screens over 100 inches.

Adjust to computer user behavior

At the recent annual event "HP Vietnam Day 2024" with the theme "Mastering AI, Creating Impressions", HP introduced HP Elitebook and HP ProBook computer lines integrated with AI with Intel Core Ultra 5 and 7 processors, along with specialized NPUs to process AI tasks with personalized experiences. HP Smart Sense technology in these new lines is designed to automatically predict and adjust according to user behavior. The business computer line is equipped with the ability to protect against quantum computer attacks thanks to the Endpoint Security Controller (ESC) chip, protecting important data. HP also launched HP Cloud Endpoint Manager SaaS, a system designed for critical devices, helping IT departments easily manage, monitor and protect other devices from information security threats.
