On February 11, the court will continue the trial with the testimony of former Interior Minister Lee Sang Min and National Security Adviser Shin Won Sik. This is the 7th trial and Mr. Lee Sang Min was summoned as a witness at the request of both the President and the legal representative of the National Assembly.
The reason for the summons was because the former Minister of the Interior was present at a cabinet meeting convened by President Yoon Suk Yeol right before the declaration of martial law on the night of December 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, the former National Security Adviser was present at a cabinet meeting held early on December 4 before martial law was lifted following a vote in the National Assembly.
In addition, two other witnesses are also expected to testify, including former Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service Baek Jong Wook and Secretary General of the National Election Commission Kim Yong Bin.
The two will be questioned over election fraud allegations that President Yoon Suk Yeol cited to declare martial law.
The next trial this week is scheduled for February 13 and the entire impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol is likely to end after the eighth session.
