According to Minister Galushchenko, on the night of February 11, Moscow conducted an airstrike on Ukraine's power grid, forcing the country's energy operator to apply emergency power cuts.
In addition, the attack, which lasted until morning, also targeted gas infrastructure, adding pressure to Ukraine's power grid.
Russian forces are believed to have launched cruise missiles from the Black Sea overnight, prompting Kiev and several other regions to immediately issue air strike warnings.
The Poltava regional military administration said that missile attacks caused nine settlements in the Myrhorod district to lose gas supplies.
Also according to a report from the Ukrainian state oil and gas corporation Naftogaz, many of its production facilities in Poltava province were seriously damaged.
Since launching a special military operation in Ukraine, Russia has repeatedly targeted energy infrastructure in the neighboring Eastern European country.
In September 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that Moscow's attacks had destroyed all of Ukraine's thermal power plants and most of its hydroelectric capacity.
Ukrainian authorities and energy companies are also working to repair and strengthen the power grid.
Moscow has not yet responded to the above information from Kiev.
