Accordingly, developing regional tourism in the direction of strengthening the connection between the Central Highlands and other regions in the country and international connection in tourism development to maximize the tourism potential and strengths of each locality and the entire region. Along with the simultaneous development of cultural tourism, eco-tourism, mountain resort tourism, in which taking cultural tourism with the core of the cultural values of the Central Highlands ethnic groups as the foundation for developing types of tourism; developing tourism simultaneously with preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Central Highlands ethnic groups.
With the orientation to 2030, Central Highlands tourism will become an important economic sector, creating a driving force to promote the development of other economic sectors; actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the region; making an important contribution to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and rural development; ensuring social security; maintaining national defense, security and social order and safety.

By 2025, the target is to attract 1.2 million international tourists and serve 5.1 million domestic tourists; the growth rate of international tourists is 8.5%/year and domestic tourists is 5.5%/year. By 2030, it is to attract 1.8 million international tourists and serve 6.8 million domestic tourists; the growth rate of international tourists is 8.0%/year and domestic tourists is 5.0%/year.
Develop the tourism market within the region and surrounding areas, especially from cities and major tourist centers; focus on tourists with the purpose of cultural and ecological research, mountain resorts, entertainment, weekend breaks and family travel. Encourage the development and expansion of the tourism market according to special topics (waterfall crossing, exploring primeval forests, mountain climbing to conquer peaks, hot air ballooning, parachuting, gliding...).
Develop typical products according to key areas and strengthen linkages to create attractive tourism products. Diversify products to meet the needs of tourists such as: conference and seminar tourism; festival tourism; educational tourism; health tourism; health care tourism. Focus on key tourism development areas such as: Da Lat city associated with Tuyen Lam lake, Dan Kia - Suoi Vang lake with outstanding natural tourism resources, the main exploitation direction is sightseeing, ecological and resort tourism.
Main tourism products include: Sightseeing and cultural research tourism: Historical relics, traditional festivals, Central Highlands gong cultural space; rural agricultural eco-tourism, mountain and lake resorts, research tourism of national park ecosystems, conservation areas; Sightseeing tourism, adventure sports tourism, conference, seminar and festival tourism.

Regarding solutions to protect tourism resources and environment such as: developing a general master plan on land use based on the viewpoint of rational and effective exploitation of resources, ensuring sustainable development of the ecological environment. Strictly implementing the Law on Environmental Protection; strictly protecting the tourism environment in sensitive areas such as national parks, nature reserves, scenic spots, historical and cultural relics. Strengthening response to climate change and landslides and flash floods. Developing plans to prevent incidents and overcome consequences to minimize the negative impacts of tourism activities and natural disasters on the environment in tourist areas and destinations in the Central Highlands.
Encourage environmentally friendly tourism activities; encourage and support the community to participate in investing in tourism development, share benefits and responsibilities in exploiting resources for tourism development.
Tax incentives and loan interest rates for investment projects in national tourist areas and destinations; new tourism products that can promote the unique natural and human values of the region; community-based tourism products. There are policies to prioritize investment in developing tourism infrastructure, protecting resources and the environment, and implementing policies to develop tourism that is responsible to the environment and society. There are policies to encourage and support the ethnic communities of the Central Highlands to participate in tourism activities; encourage the preservation and development of traditional and strong industries of the Central Highlands to serve tourism.
Increase investment and improve investment efficiency from central and local state budgets in a synchronous, focused and key direction; prioritize investment in developing infrastructure systems in key tourism development areas; national tourist areas, points and urban areas; potential tourist areas and points in remote areas. Integrate national target programs with tourism development.
Particularly, socialize investment in tourism development to mobilize maximum non-budgetary capital sources; encourage economic sectors to participate in tourism business activities in various forms, especially have appropriate mechanisms to attract capital from the people to invest in tourism development; socialize investment in conservation, restoration of relics, landscapes, festivals, folk cultural activities, and craft villages to serve tourism development. Focus on investment, enhance the capacity of training facilities, vocational training facilities, form a multi-level training network to rapidly increase the scale of training, improve the quality of direct human resources in the tourism industry and basic tourism skills for indirect workers and people participating in tourism business.
Organize programs to introduce tourism in the Central Highlands; participate in domestic and international tourism fairs. Promote and advertise the image of Central Highlands tourism on domestic and foreign media.
Implement thorough and unified decentralization of management: The central state management agency for tourism manages according to industry standards, regulations and norms; localities in the region directly manage resources and develop tourism according to industry planning, in accordance with construction planning approved by competent authorities and specialized standards and regulations.
Improve research capacity and application of science and technology in management and development of tourism products. Apply geographic information technology and remote sensing in investigating and monitoring changes in resources, especially forest ecosystems to serve tourism. Implement the connection of hotels and international border gates in the Region to effectively manage and count tourists.
Linking and cooperating among provinces in the Central Highlands region in building common tourism programs for the whole region; investing in developing specific tourism products of the region; training and developing high-quality tourism human resources; building a promotion and branding program to introduce the image of tourism in the Central Highlands as an attractive destination. Linking and cooperating internationally in the Greater Mekong Subregion and ASEAN countries to develop tourism routes: Cambodia - Moc Bai along the trans-Asian route through Ho Chi Minh City - Da Lat; Laos - Bo Y (Kon Tum) and Cambodia - Le Thanh (Gia Lai); Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh - Vientiane - Bangkok; Da Lat (Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku) - Hanoi - China.
Strengthen cooperation and linkage between localities in the Region; between the tourism industry and related sectors, especially with the Police and Border Guard to ensure the safety of tourists, contributing to maintaining order, social safety and national security. Strengthen international cooperation, especially cooperation and linkage between provinces bordering Laos and Cambodia in tourism development to contribute to maintaining national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
