Binh Thuan Lieutenant Pham Tan Phat, an officer of the Mobile Police Regiment (Ministry of Public Security), died while patrolling traffic during Tet on National Highway 1A through Ham Tan district.
On the morning of the 5th day of Tet (February 14), Lieutenant Phat and Lieutenant Tran Duc Lam (police officers of Duc Linh District) were mobilized to reinforce the Traffic Police Department of Binh Thuan Police to patrol on National Highway 1A according to the plan to ensure traffic safety during Tet.
At around 5:42 a.m., when arriving at Hamlet 2, Tan Duc Commune, the car driven by Lieutenant Lam suddenly hit a concrete pillar on the side of the road and plunged into a ditch. The two policemen were taken to Ham Tan District Medical Center for emergency treatment. However, due to severe injuries, Lieutenant Phat did not survive, and Lieutenant Lam is currently receiving treatment.
Leaders of Binh Thuan Provincial Police arrived at the scene to direct the handling of the incident, visited the injured officers at the hospital, and arranged funerals for the deceased.
