Mr. Tran Thanh Man is Chairman of the National Assembly.

On the afternoon of May 20, with 475/475 delegates participating in the vote in favor (accounting for 97.54% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly passed a resolution on electing Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, as Chairman of the 15th National Assembly, term 2021 - 2026.

Immediately before that, the National Assembly had held a secret ballot to elect Mr. Tran Thanh Man as Chairman of the National Assembly. The vote count results were also announced before the National Assembly voted electronically to pass the resolution on the election of the Chairman of the National Assembly.

Immediately after the National Assembly passed the resolution, before the National Assembly, compatriots and voters nationwide, the new National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man took the oath of office.

"Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly, before the voters nationwide, I, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Strive to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people," the new Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man took the oath, his left hand placed on the Constitution.

Before conducting a secret ballot and voting to pass the resolution, late that morning, the National Assembly listened to the National Assembly Standing Committee present a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the National Assembly Chairman. After that, the National Assembly spent time discussing in groups about the personnel to be elected as the National Assembly Chairman. The list to elect the National Assembly Chairman was approved early this afternoon, before the National Assembly voted. The personnel introduced for election is Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

Mr. Tran Thanh Man (62 years old), from Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province, has a PhD in economics. Mr. Man is an alternate member of the 10th Party Central Committee; member of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Party Central Committee; Secretary of the 12th Party Central Committee; member of the 13th Politburo and a National Assembly delegate of the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.

Mr. Tran Thanh Man has many years of working for the Youth Union in Hau Giang and Can Tho. From July 1994, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was the Chief of Office, then Vice Chairman, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City. From January 2011, Mr. Man was elected to the 11th Party Central Committee, holding the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee. In October 2015, he was elected Vice Chairman, then Vice Chairman - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In April 2021, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was elected by the 14th National Assembly as Vice Chairman of the 14th National Assembly, holding the position of Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly. In July 2021, at the first session of the 15th National Assembly, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was again elected by the 15th National Assembly to hold the position of Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

Previously, on May 2, at the 7th extraordinary session, the National Assembly dismissed Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue from the position of Chairman of the National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term and dismissed him from his duties as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly, after the Party Central Committee agreed to let Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue resign from his positions and retire from work./.
