Mr. Kim Sang-sik probes Indonesia, rival coach speaks out

At the ASEAN Cup 2024 (formerly known as the AFF Cup), the Vietnamese team is in Group B of the ASEAN Cup 2024 with Myanmar, Laos and two strong teams, Indonesia and the Philippines. To prepare for the tournament, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese team has planned to fly to Indonesia and the Philippines to watch the matches of these two teams during the FIFA Days in November.

When asked by the press about coach Kim Sang-sik's presence in Indonesia, Mr. Shin Tae-yong - coach of the Indonesian team replied: "I think this is quite natural. Coaches of the teams have to do what is best for the players and for themselves. No matter who the opponent is, you need to analyze very carefully. As a coach, I think it is very normal to scout other teams."

The Indonesian team will play two matches in November, facing Japan (November 15) and Saudi Arabia (November 19).

Coach Shin Tae-yong and his team will play both matches at home. According to the plan, Mr. Kim and his colleagues will be present to watch the match between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, taking place at 7:00 p.m. on November 19. This match is part of the 3rd qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.

Coach Shin Tae-yong said it was natural for coach Kim Sang-sik to fly to Indonesia.

If Vietnam overcomes Indonesia early in the ASEAN Cup, they can think of first place in Group B, a position that could help the team avoid Thailand in the semi-finals.

The ASEAN Cup 2024 will take place from December 8, 2024 to January 5, 2025. The first and second teams of Groups A and B will qualify for the semi-finals. The two winners of the two semi-final matches will compete in the final.

At the ASEAN Cup 2024, the semi-final and final matches will be played in a home-and-away format.
