Female student fell off bus, panicked when lying close to the wheel

A bus driver in Ho Chi Minh City left the bus stop, causing a female student's backpack to get stuck at the door, then pulled the victim down onto the street.

On the morning of March 22, a clip was circulated on social media recording a female student falling and lying on the side of a bus moving away from a bus stop.

According to the clip, the female student was getting off the bus and getting off at the bus stop when the accident happened. The backpack on her back got stuck in the closing bus door. At the same time, the driver started moving the bus, causing the victim to fall onto the road.

Luckily, the bus driver noticed her after a short distance and stopped. The female student, looking panicked, quickly gathered her personal belongings and backpack and moved to the sidewalk.

Confirming with VietNamNet, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said the incident occurred at 4:29 p.m. on March 7 on Kha Van Can Street, Thu Duc City.

The driver is DTT, operating on bus route number 57: Phuoc Binh Market - Hiep Binh High School.

At that time, the bus had just stopped at VinaTex College station to drop off passengers. Driver T. did not observe carefully before closing the door and moving the vehicle away from the waiting station, causing the passenger to get stuck with his backpack on the bus and fall. Fortunately, the driver discovered it immediately and stopped the vehicle, so no unfortunate accident occurred.

The Center said it has requested the service provider to suspend the driver from work from 8am today (March 22) for strict handling according to regulations.

At the same time, the Center also requested the company to rectify and remind all drivers of the unit to strictly comply with regulations on traffic safety and order, regulations on public passenger transport by bus, and not to let similar cases happen.
