Opening the workshop, Senior Lieutenant General, Doctor Le Huy Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the workshop Steering Committee, stated: The process of striving and training has turned the patriotic young man Doan Khue into a staunch communist, an excellent leader, military commander, and talented politician of the Party, State, and Vietnam People's Army. With sharp thinking, strategic vision, and profound practical experience, he has made many contributions to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution. He is a shining example of revolutionary ethics and the personality of a staunch communist soldier, dedicating himself to the country and the people. The General always pays special attention to his hometown Quang Tri, and has many valuable contributions to the Party Committee, government, army, and people of the province, with the desire to develop the province further.

General Doan Khue (alias Vo Tien Trinh) was born on October 29, 1923 in Gia Dang village, Trieu Tan commune (now Trieu Lang commune), Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province. Born and raised in a homeland rich in patriotism and revolutionary struggle, General Doan Khue was enlightened early and participated in revolutionary activities since 1939 when he was only 16 years old. During 60 years of revolutionary activities, General Doan Khue has held many positions and in many different fields of activity. Regardless of his position, responsibility, or circumstances, the General always maintained the qualities of a revolutionary soldier, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the People; being resourceful, decisive, and creative in leadership and command, he excellently completed all tasks assigned by the Party, State, and People.
In particular, as a member of the Politburo, Standing Member of the Central Military Party Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Committee, Minister of National Defense, with rich practical experience and profound strategic vision, the General proposed and advised the Party, State, and National Assembly on many correct policies on military and defense tasks.
One of the outstanding contributions of General Doan Khue was to propose and contribute to the assessment of the world and regional situations and the domestic revolutionary situation; to adjust the deployment of forces and defense in all directions, areas, sea and island areas, borders, mainland, political, economic and cultural centers, etc., ensuring defense capability in all situations. The General proposed to lead and direct the implementation of the viewpoint of combining economy with national defense, building defense zones in provinces and cities; to successfully organize the implementation of the strategic adjustment from preventing large-scale invasion wars to dealing with armed conflicts, etc., contributing to maintaining political security, creating a peaceful and stable environment in the renovation process. The General's proposals have been tested and proven in practice and are valuable lessons in the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland today.
At the workshop, Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung emphasized: No matter what position or responsibility he holds, wherever he is, General Doan Khue always looks towards his homeland Quang Tri, always considering his homeland as the source and support in his life of activities. Whenever he has the opportunity to visit his homeland, he spends precious time going to remote areas, places with many difficulties and shortages to learn about and listen to the opinions and aspirations of the people, and encourage them to overcome difficulties and build a new life. The General has advised and directed many dedicated ideas to the Party Committee, government and people of the province in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building the Party and the political system, to gradually build his homeland Quang Tri to develop more and more.

At the conference, delegates presented papers with rich content and good scientific quality, contributing to clarifying many new aspects of the life, career, rich and vibrant revolutionary life and great contributions in many fields of General Doan Khue to the cause of national liberation struggle, building and defending the Fatherland.
Summarizing the discussion at the Workshop, Major General, Doctor Nguyen Hoang Nhien, Director of the Institute of Military History emphasized: The Workshop continued to affirm General Doan Khue - a staunch communist, a shining example of revolutionary ethics, a lifelong devotee and sacrifice for the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and the Army. At the same time, it clarified the revolutionary life and great contributions of General Doan Khue to the Vietnamese revolution in the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the invading American imperialists, in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, and carrying out the noble international mission.
At the workshop, the presentations analyzed and deepened the role and outstanding contributions of the General in building the national defense, building the armed forces, building the People's Army, and summarizing the Party's leadership in the revolutionary war. Along with that, the delegates clarified the General's steadfast, close, profound, democratic leadership and command style, the historical values and lessons learned from his revolutionary life to apply to the process of building the Army, building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the new period.
