People's Artist Trung Anh: "I find myself compatible with People's Artist Le Khanh"

On the evening of October 14, at the National Cinema Center (Hanoi), the film Hong Ha Nu Si - a film about female poet Doan Thi Diem was officially released to the audience.

Mrs. Doan Thi Diem was a beautiful, talented, and virtuous woman who had the talent to write poetry, translate poetry, and write books. She was a woman of many talents but was very good at Chinese and Nom scripts. She was educated from a young age and was adopted by the Minister of Justice.

She diligently wrote prose and poetry, and translated Dang Tran Con's Chinh Phu Ngam from Chinese to Nom. Her talented translations of the poems are still passed down to this day.

Doan Thi Diem married late and was the second wife of Dr. Nguyen Kieu. She had no children but treated her husband's two stepchildren as her own. Poet Doan Thi Diem died at the age of 43 but had left behind many valuable literary legacies.

Screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát, Author and Production Director of the film, said that after 4 years of incubation and preparation, 5 months of filming and 4 months of careful post-production, the film was released to the audience with the utmost care.

"Making a historical film about a real person who lived nearly 300 years ago was a big challenge for the production crew because of limited budget conditions, and investing in costumes also required a lot of effort.

Besides, finding the setting is also difficult because nowadays there are high-rise buildings and high-voltage power poles everywhere. However, the crew overcame many challenges to complete the film Hong Ha Nu Si ", screenwriter Hong Ngát shared.

Taking on the main role of the film, female writer Doan Thi Diem is actress Anh Dao - who is known to the audience through prime time films on VTV such as: Dau Tri, Loi Ve Mien Hoa ... Acting in a movie for the first time, and taking on a heavy main role, Anh Dao is extremely nervous and pressured.

She was chosen by director Nguyen Duc Viet at the last minute after casting many female actors. Anh Dao immediately went to learn how to write Nom script, and learned how to walk and talk to fit the character. Although it was her first time acting in a movie, and playing a historical character, Anh Dao conquered the role impressively.

Taking on two supporting but equally important roles in the film are the husband and wife of the Minister of Justice, played by People's Artist Trung Anh and People's Artist Le Khanh. Although playing supporting roles, these two veteran artists of Vietnamese cinema and television give the film the necessary weight. People's Artist Trung Anh is also the teacher of actress Anh Dao, the bridge that brought her to Hong Ha .

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, People's Artist Trung Anh said that actors nowadays often act in modern films, and rarely have the opportunity to work with historical or ancient films, so when acting in the film Hong Ha Nu Si , he had to make a lot of effort.

"There are few movie lines, so it's not difficult to memorize, but difficult to understand the hidden meanings and many layers of meaning that the actors have to express. My crew and I are very passionate about this movie, so we tried our best to act."

People's Artist Trung Anh also said: "When making the movie Hong Ha Nu Si , I found myself compatible with People's Artist Le Khanh. As professional actors, we are not afraid of hardship, not afraid of difficulties, only afraid of bland roles, being criticized by the audience."

Mr. Vi Kien Thanh - Director of the Department of Cinema (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) - said that the film script has good ideological content, is rich in humanity and has historical and literary value. The ups and downs of the life of cultural celebrity and poet Doan Thi Diem in the context of Vietnamese society in the late 18th century are vividly portrayed, affirming her contributions to Vietnamese literature.

"With a professional and dedicated crew, I hope that Hong Ha Nu Si will be a film that touches the emotions of the audience," said Mr. Thanh.

The film Hong Ha Nu Si is directed by artist Nguyen Duc Viet and written by Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát. What is special is that the main members of the film are all artists of the Vietnam Feature Film Studio.

In addition to People's Artist Trung Anh, People's Artist Le Khanh, Anh Dao, actors such as Vinh Xuong, Quoc Toan... also had impressive performances, bringing success to the film.

The film is expected to attend the 2023 Vietnam Film Festival in Da Lat next November and be widely released at the end of the year.
