In the capital city of Phnom Penh, the Sangkranta festival and entertainment programs are held in many areas, with the highlight being the famous spiritual tourist attraction Wat Phnom, called “Wat Phnom Sangkranta.”

In addition to the vibrant and laughter-filled Sangkranta programs, the traditional Chol Chnam Thmey 2025 is even more meaningful with the peace-praying festival held in royal ceremony, presided over by King Norodom Sihamoni on New Year's Day in the Angkor Wat temple grounds.
As a traditional custom originating from Cambodia's long history, although mainly associated with the rituals of a religious ceremony, the peace-praying ceremony also serves as a symbol of solidarity, unity and national pride of the people in the land of the wonder Angkor Wat.
Besides its spiritual significance, the peace-praying ceremony also represents the common aspiration and commitment of the Cambodian people, working towards building an increasingly prosperous and harmonious nation.
Chol Chnam Thmey is considered the biggest festival event of the year in the Kingdom of Cambodia - a country with more than 5,100 pagodas, with over 90% of its approximately 17 million population being Buddhists.
During traditional New Year, Cambodian people prepare offerings to go to pagodas and perform traditional rituals./.
