On the afternoon of July 19, People's Artist Le Khanh attracted attention when participating in the introduction of the film Fanti , held in Ho Chi Minh City. This is the work marking Le Khanh's return after The Girl from the Past (2022).

The film is directed by Andy Nguyen, produced by Phan Gia Nhat Linh, and features a young cast such as Thao Tam, Ho Thu Anh, Vo Dien Gia Huy...

In the film, People's Artist Le Khanh plays Mrs. Hang - the biological mother of the female lead Anh Duong (Thao Tam). When she was young, Mrs. Hang was an actress so she understands the pitfalls of the entertainment industry that are set before her daughter.

Le Khanh confided that this is a very special role for her. The artist said the reason she accepted to play Fanti was because she wanted to continue her artistic career.

"I have no intention of stopping acting. Every year, I look forward to new roles. The plot of this film is also very interesting and attractive," said Le Khanh.

For People's Artist Le Khanh, participating in the debut film of a young overseas Vietnamese director like Andy Nguyen is also very meaningful.

"The beginning is always sacred and memorable. I also look forward to the unique storytelling and filmmaking from young people who have returned from studying abroad," said Le Khanh.

Recently, Le Khanh has been known for her role as a trainer in acting classes. When asked if she gave acting demonstrations or gave advice to the production crew in Fanti , Le Khanh jokingly said that this time she was... unemployed.

"Director Andy Nguyen works very carefully, analyzes the characters thoroughly, explains all the characters' actions and gestures, so I have nothing to do (laughs). This is also Andy Nguyen's unique feature, the reason I need to follow this young man to see how he tells the story.

For years I have watched American movies and found them to be very well made and acted. I was curious about how they were trained. That curiosity was partly satisfied when I saw Andy making this movie.

Sometimes for many reasons, we "take shortcuts" when making films, but Andy does not. He is very "stubborn", highly focused just to do exactly what he imagined, never giving up or compromising", People's Artist Le Khanh shared.

Talking about her career, the 6X female artist said that art is inherently a thorny job. Women who are both mothers and artists face even more difficulties.

"When my two children finished high school, I asked them if they wanted to follow the family's traditional profession. They said "never". Honestly, I was very happy at that time. More than anyone else, I am a professional, I know that the path to this profession is very fierce and thorny, and it is extremely difficult to survive," she said.

Working with a crew of many young faces in Fanti , Le Khanh also felt infused with youthful energy and a "rejuvenated" spirit. She built a close relationship with actress Thao Tam to play the role of mother and daughter in the film.

People's Artist Le Khanh shared about actress Thao Tam: "Tam was under a lot of pressure when she accepted the female lead role in the film. Before that, she had only played a very small role in Em and Trinh. But I encouraged her and told her to seize the opportunity. Thanks to Andy Nguyen, I have another wonderful daughter (laughs)".
