The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival is directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee; chaired by the Department of Cinema, in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and other agencies and units.
The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival is a cultural and artistic event, honoring cinematic works of high artistic value, rich in humanity, with outstanding and unique international and Vietnamese creative imprints. The film festival is also a practical activity to celebrate the country's major holidays in 2024 and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Through the Film Festival, we aim to discover and honor new cinema talents; introduce outstanding works of world cinema and connect, exchange and cooperate for mutual development, create opportunities to expand the Vietnamese film market, integrate into the international film market. At the same time, we aim to attract the attention of Hanoi audiences and international delegates, contributing to promoting Hanoi, the beautiful and hospitable country of Vietnam.
According to the Organizing Committee, along with 42 Vietnamese films participating in this year's Film Festival, audiences will also have the opportunity to enjoy more than 70 outstanding works from famous film industries around the world such as: the United States, Sweden, France, Russia, Korea, Spain, etc.
Accordingly, at the Film Festival, there will be 8 feature films competing in the Feature Film category from the following countries: Switzerland, Russian Federation, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Estonia, South Korea, and Iran.
11 films competing in the Short Film category come from the following countries: Colombia, China, Iran, Serbia, Cambodia, United States, South Korea, China, Japan, Iran, Greece.
The German Cinema Focus Program has 7 films; the World Cinema Panorama Program has 39 films.
With the slogan "Cinema: Creativity - Take Off", in addition to enjoying outstanding films, this year's Film Festival will also bring to the public exciting and impressive activities such as the opening, closing and award ceremonies, two seminars "Spotlight on German Cinema", "Developing the production of films exploiting historical themes and adapted from literary works"...
The exhibition "Vietnam's Heritages Recognized by UNESCO - Experience through Cinema Films" also promises to bring interesting experiences, especially for international artists and filmmakers when they can approach and admire the beautiful and unique images of Vietnam's unique heritages recognized by UNESCO. This is also a meaningful event, continuing the series of activities to connect and promote tourism - cinema organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recent times.
Activities such as film project markets, press screenings, outdoor screenings, sightseeing tours, etc. also promise to create new and diverse colors for domestic and international audiences. In particular, the Film Project Market is an event that is increasingly attractive to a large number of young filmmakers, calling for investors to participate in building and implementing quality film projects. This year, it is expected that there will be 8 participating projects, including 4 projects by Vietnamese filmmakers and 4 projects by international filmmakers.
The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival will take place from November 7 to 11, 2024. The opening ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. on November 7 at the Hoan Kiem Theater (40 Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) and will be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television (HTV1)./.
