At the 30th Golden Apricot Award Art Council meeting - 2024 held on the afternoon of December 2 at the Lao Dong Newspaper Hall, the council members agreed with the candidates entering 14 categories and the "For the Community" and "Excellent Literature and Arts" awards.

After the 30th Golden Apricot Award nomination round - 2024 ended, the Golden Apricot Award Organizing Committee held a meeting of the Golden Apricot Award Art Council to propose the most worthy and quality nominations in 14 categories, including: 1. "Most favorite male singer - rapper"; 2. "Most favorite female singer"; 3. "Most favorite song"; 4. "Most favorite MV"; 5. "Most favorite stage actor"; 6. "Most favorite stage actress"; 7. "Most favorite comedian"; 8. "Most favorite stage play";
9. "Most Favorite Film and Television Actor"; 10. "Most Favorite Film and Television Actress"; 11. "Most Favorite Film"; 12. "Most Favorite Television Series"; 13. "Most Favorite MC"; 14. "Most Favorite Television Program - Digital Platform".

In order to be able to provide the most accurate candidates based on the actual cultural and artistic activities during the year and the level of interest of the public, which are readers of the Lao Dong Newspaper, the Organizing Committee of the 30th Mai Vang Award - 2024 continues to form 4 sub-committees including: Stage; Music; Cinema - television - program; "Excellent Literature and Arts" award 2024.
The members of the Art Council in each subcommittee will receive nomination information from readers in each category in advance and discuss and give their own opinions as a basis for reference for the official Art Council meeting. With the pre-assessment round of the most qualified candidates before coming to the Art Council meeting taking place on the afternoon of December 2, it is a way for the Mai Vang Award to increasingly improve its fairness, consensus and honesty.
Mr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Head of the Steering Committee and Chairman of the Art Council of the 30th Mai Vang Award - 2024, said that the 30th Mai Vang Award - 2024 is truly a special season because although there are many awards in the market, few awards can go to the 30-year journey like the Mai Vang Award. "Many artists also admit that although the Mai Vang Award is not part of the system for reviewing and awarding the title of People's Artist or Meritorious Artist, the Mai Vang Award is a valuable asset for artists because Mai Vang has entered the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people over the past 30 years. The special love of everyone for the Mai Vang Award really moved us. I also thank the members of the Art Council through the seasons for their practical contributions to be able to come up with a list of qualified candidates and conquer the public" - Mr. To Dinh Tuan shared.
Better every season
During the 30th Mai Vang Award Art Council meeting - 2024, many proposals were made by the members. In which, the Art Council members discussed and voted together, the works that passed the vote will be voted and vice versa. Readers and audiences will choose again in the voting round and have full authority to decide which individuals and works will be honored at the award ceremony. This will balance the opinions of the audience and the opinions of experts, harmonizing both public reception and recognition from experts.
In addition to the absolute consensus of the members of the Arts Council on the list of candidates based on the nominations of readers, there are also categories where the Arts Council proposed to keep only 2 candidates instead of 4 candidates as in the list of readers. This is completely valid because in the working process of the Arts Council and the subcommittees of the 30th Mai Vang Award - 2024, it was agreed: "Artists, works, and programs that have been nominated by readers or professional associations but violate state regulations or violate the Mai Vang Award regulations will be re-selected by the Arts Council. If more than 50% of the members of the Arts Council do not agree, the work, artist, and program will be removed from the list for the voting round".
And vice versa, even if an artist, work, or program is excellent and outstanding and highly appreciated by the members of the professional subcommittee and the Arts Council but is not nominated by readers (maximum 1 case per category): If more than 50% of the Arts Council members vote in agreement, that artist, work, or program will be added to the voting list.
But with the nomination results this year from the audience, readers of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and the Professional Council, most of them are compatible. Therefore, the Art Council of the Mai Vang Award this year does not need to nominate more than the available list of nominees from the nomination ballots of readers. That shows the compatibility of the audience and professionals in selecting excellent candidates. Musician Vo Thien Thanh commented: "Rappers and singers are quite different in terms of professional nature, genre and art. Therefore, the award category of Male Singer - Rapper is reasonable". The "Male Singer" category of previous years was renamed "Male Singer - Rapper" due to the appearance of many rapper candidates following the current trend of the audience. "Rappers are not singers, so putting rappers in the "Male Singer" category is not suitable. Changing the name of the category would be more suitable" - musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien said.
The 30th Mai Vang Awards - 2024 will take place from September 15 with the nomination round ending on November 25, 2024. The voting round will start from December 4, 2024 to January 3, 2025. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on the night of January 8, 2025 at the City Theater (HCMC) and broadcast live on VTV9 channel.

In the Literature category, the Art Council of the 30th Mai Vang Awards - 2024 decided to choose the work "Carve away...carve to" from the memoir of writer - director Xuan Phuong.
In the Photography category, the work "Fire Prevention and Rescue Drill" by author Kieu Anh Dung was honored.

In the Painting category, the nominees include: "High Road" - oil painting by Nguyen Trong Hoan, "Old Garden" - lacquer painting by Lam Chi Trung, "Land and Sea" - lacquer painting by Nguyen Dinh Ho, "After the Rain" - woodcut by Bui Thi Yen Vy, "Curse of the Sea" - sculpture by Nguyen Kien Thuc. Finally, the oil painting by Nguyen Trong Hoan titled "High Road" won.
In addition, the "Artist for the Community 2024" award belongs to singer Tung Duong and the "Artist for Life for the Community" award belongs to People's Artist Tra Giang.
