Báo Tổ quốcBáo Tổ quốc15/11/2024

(Fatherland) - Ban May is the only place in Sa Pa where visitors can experience the lives of the highland ethnic groups (Sa Pa H'Mong, Dien Bien H'Mong, Xa Pho, Tay, Giay, Red Dao, Thai, Ha Nhi) in the same day, at the same location.

A place to preserve hundreds of years of customs of the people

Sa Pa, with its four-season natural beauty and the cultural diversity of ethnic minorities, is a great tourist destination. However, the complex mountainous terrain and long distances between villages can make it difficult for visitors to fully explore the unique cultural features here. May Village at Sun World Fansipan Legend was formed to help connect the cultural beauty of the Northwest in a concentrated space.

This is the only place in Sa Pa where visitors can experience the lives of the highland ethnic groups (Sa Pa H'Mong, Dien Bien H'Mong, Xa Pho, Tay, Giay, Red Dao, Thai, Ha Nhi) in the same day, at the same location.

Here, the traditional colors of the ethnic groups are preserved in the most authentic way. The ancient houses of May village were painstakingly brought back from the villages in Sa Pa and restored by local artisans. The living space is always warmed by the fire with the daily life and customs of the ethnic people that have not changed for hundreds of years.

Visitors can explore the process of making brocade, weaving, making incense, printing patterns with beeswax, bamboo and rattan weaving... from highland artisans. What is in Ban May is created for visitors to have the most Sa Pa, most Northwest feeling.

Experience traditional crafts

When mentioning the Northwest, everyone will immediately think of the brocade colors on the traditional costumes of the people here. However, not everyone has ever seen with their own eyes, or thoroughly learned about the process of making the beautiful shirts and dresses of the people.

For example, a Dao bride's costume takes many years to hand embroider, while the Xa Pho people, to make a dress that is considered the "peak of art", must harvest fresh beads, weave fabric, and then embroider it on the dress with great care.

Tourists are guided by local people to make unique souvenirs.

Here, visitors will be guided by local people to make unique souvenirs by hand. In addition, many professions such as fabric dyeing, drum making, etc. will be vividly and realistically recreated.

On all days of the week, in the morning from 9:30 to 11:30 and in the afternoon from 13:50 to 16:00, at Ban May, there will be extremely unique Northwest art performances such as cultural exchanges with Tay and Xa Pho artists and mini shows with the themes "Little Sapa", "Northwest in Blooming Season", "Love of Fansipan"...

Visitors will not be able to stop dancing to the familiar Northwest melodies that have been renewed with excitement, or immerse themselves in the joyful, bustling atmosphere of the bamboo dance performance. Coming here on weekends, you will also have the opportunity to meet ethnic minority artists performing folk songs.

One of the most favorite experiences of tourists when coming to Sa Pa is taking pictures with the costumes of ethnic minorities. When coming to Ban May, tourists will be able to wear costumes hand-woven by the locals, with standard materials, designs, and colors, not cross-bred with any other place.

Through this, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the meaning and function of the costumes, and take photos that accurately "identify" the ethnic minorities of Sa Pa.

Enjoy specialties prepared by local people

At Ban May, visitors will enjoy ethnic specialties in the space of bamboo hedges, stilt houses and stone walls typical of the village, by the flickering campfire.

Until December 31, 2024, visitors can experience dinner at Ban May with a cost of 250,000 VND for children and 300,000 VND for adults. This is a reasonable price for a special culinary experience, enjoying delicious specialties made from typical ingredients of the Northwest and prepared by local people.

The menu at May village is very rich and attractive, from fragrant grilled dishes to soups and hot pots with rich mountain flavors. Adults love thang co, stir-fried buffalo meat with wild bamboo shoots, crispy and sweet local chicken hot pot, or sipping banana salad with pig ears and a cup of strong sweet wine. Meanwhile, children will enjoy fried roasted local pork and bamboo rice with sesame salt - simple but still extremely delicious dishes.

Extend your experience at Fansipan

Walking from May village, visitors will reach Fansipan cable car station, the starting point for the journey to explore the roof of Indochina. The cable car route takes visitors across the landscape of overlapping clouds and mountains, terraced fields shimmering like a "golden sea" to the horizon, the crystal clear Muong Hoa stream, hundreds of years old spruce trees...

The cable car cabin glides through the picturesque landscape, opening up a sea of white clouds rolling over Fansipan peak. Autumn is the ideal season for cloud hunting, the cool weather also pleases tourists when visiting the brilliant orange-red carpets of wild flowers under the deep blue sky, worshiping the sacred spiritual cultural complex and participating in the solemn flag-raising ceremony on Fansipan peak.

Nestled at the foot of the mountain, Ban May attracts tourists with its delicious and attractive cuisine, ancient houses, the simple lifestyle of ethnic minorities or festivals imbued with indigenous culture... Every small corner of the village contains cultural stories, the simple but profound beauty of the highland people.
