Pride of the army and people of Quang Ngai

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ba To District People's Committee Lu Dinh Tich emphasized that the Gia Vuc victory will forever go down in the history of the national liberation war, the pride of the army and people of Ba To district in particular, and Quang Ngai province in general. The echoes of the Gia Vuc liberation feat still resound and always arouse pride in each of us.

The battle of Gia Vuc (Ba Vi commune, Song Re district, now Ba To district) took place exactly 50 years ago. It was a strong combined arms battle, tightly surrounded, quickly ended, destroyed, captured and wiped out the 70th border commando battalion, eliminated 536 enemy soldiers from combat, collected 324 guns of various types and a lot of military ammunition, completely liberated Song Re district, created a continuous situation for the liberated area from the plains to the mountains of western Quang Ngai, created momentum for the development of the armed forces, contributed to the liberation of Quang Ngai province and the complete liberation of the South, and reunified the country.

“50 years have passed, but the glorious traces of a heroic struggle will never fade in the memories of the cadres, soldiers and every citizen of the heroic homeland of Ba To. Today’s generation and future generations will forever remember the heroic sacrifices of the ethnic people in the district who were resilient, indomitable, stood shoulder to shoulder, and unanimously overcame hardships and fierceness to create the glorious victory of Gia Vuc”, comrade Lu Dinh Tich expressed.

After the country was completely liberated, with absolute faith in the leadership of the Party, the ethnic groups in Ba To district made every effort to overcome difficulties, gradually rising up to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, the appearance of rural and mountainous areas has increasingly improved. Social security and gratitude policies have been implemented regularly and promptly. The poverty rate has decreased significantly over the years; national defense and security have been consolidated and enhanced; the great solidarity of the people has increasingly been promoted.

In recognition of the achievements, the Party Committee, government and people of the western communes of Ba To district in general and Ba Vi commune in particular were honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and State.

Proud of the achievements, inheriting and promoting the heroic tradition, on behalf of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ba To district, comrade Lu Dinh Tich called on all cadres, party members, soldiers and people of Ba To district to continue to promote the strength of the entire political system, the great national unity bloc to well implement the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's policies and laws; and the local political tasks. Take advantage of all potentials and advantages to further accelerate the economic development speed, build new rural areas, continue to improve infrastructure; effectively implement poverty reduction and job creation, and continuously improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

At the same time, maintain political security and social order and safety; ensure rapid and sustainable socio-economic development; contribute to the successful implementation of the tasks set forth in the Resolution of the 19th District Party Congress.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province awarded Certificates of Merit to the people and officials of Ba Vi commune for their achievements in the process of building and developing Ba Vi commune.
