Although Samsung's product portfolio is extensive, there are still some products that consumers expect the company to enter to improve their quality.
Smart Speaker
Samsung owns the SmartThings smart home platform, but it doesn’t have a smart speaker on the market yet. While competitors like Amazon, Apple, Google, and LG have launched their own, Samsung has yet to announce a smart speaker, even though it has introduced the Galaxy Home and Galaxy Home Mini.
With Bixby getting an upgrade with AI technology that supports large language models (LLM), it could be the right time for Samsung to develop a smart speaker or smart display that would better integrate with its home appliances, mobile devices, TVs, and soundbars.
Handheld game console
Portable gaming consoles are becoming increasingly popular as people seek console and PC-level gaming experiences on the go. Devices like the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally have attracted attention, while Nintendo is preparing to launch a new one. Even Microsoft and Sony are working on similar devices.
With its experience in making top-tier mobile devices, Samsung is well-placed to create a great handheld gaming console. The company has a solid foundation in OLED panel and memory chip manufacturing, along with a close partnership with Microsoft. A handheld gaming device running SteamOS or Windows from Samsung would be a welcome addition, especially if it included customization features that would be useful for those who already own a laptop, smartphone, or TV from the Korean brand.
Wi-Fi Router with Samsung SmartThings Platform
An advanced mesh Wi-Fi router with Samsung SmartThings (and Matter) built in could be a compelling product. With the SmartThings platform and the ability to connect to Galaxy devices, Samsung could improve security through Samsung Knox and provide fast wireless connectivity thanks to its years of smartphone experience.
Wireless headphones
While Samsung has released some quality wireless earbuds like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the company has yet to make wireless earbuds. Developing one would help Samsung compete with rivals like Apple and Sony.
With experience in research and development in the audio field, along with owning one of the leading audio brands Harman, Samsung is fully capable of creating a high-quality wireless headset product.
If Samsung decides to make wireless earbuds, it could appeal to a wide range of consumers, especially those who already own other Galaxy devices. The ability to seamlessly switch audio between Samsung smartphones, laptops, and TVs would be a big plus.
The potential for Samsung to expand its product portfolio is huge. By venturing into new areas, the Korean company can not only enhance its product ecosystem but also increase the interaction between its existing devices. This will not only improve the loyalty of existing users but also attract new customers.
