According to a source in the supply chain, Apple has set some strict technical requirements for each supplier, focusing on current standards and some improvements that will come to the foldable iPhone.
The selection process could end as early as February and last until early April. Final decisions will depend on suppliers’ ability to meet criteria for screen thickness, size, and curvature radius. Apple places particular emphasis on durability and crease resistance. Some manufacturers have already made significant progress in meeting these requirements.
Foldable iPhone still can't be launched immediately
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously revealed that the foldable iPhone is still in the planning stages and will not be released immediately. Forecasts suggest that the product could be introduced between late 2025 and 2027. According to information from The Information , the first clamshell-style foldable iPhone could appear in 2026.
In addition to the iPhone, Apple is also considering developing other products, including a folding iPad expected to launch in 2028. Journalist Mark Gurman said the company is planning a special new device that may be unlike anything it has ever produced.
Additionally, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is developing a 19-inch foldable device, about the size of a MacBook, designed to be used as a computer.
2025 promises to be a big year for Apple as the company introduces the iPhone 17 Air and advances in its own artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Meanwhile, the development of the foldable iPhone continues, with predictions that the product could change the landscape of the foldable device market.
