According to WCCF Tech , the latest report from Counterpoint Research shows that Apple continues to assert its leading position in the global smartphone market in 2024.
Accordingly, Apple accounts for 46% of total global revenue in the smartphone market. This is an impressive growth compared to 38% market share in 2023. The appeal of the iPhone also helped Apple achieve a record average selling price (ASP) of 903 USD, far surpassing the second-ranked competitor, Samsung, with an ASP of only 299 USD.
However, the US tech giant cannot be complacent as Chinese manufacturers are rising strongly. With Vivo recording the most impressive revenue growth of 20% compared to the same period last year, while Xiaomi leads the growth in the number of devices sold with 16%.
Emerging markets such as India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa are expected to be the main growth drivers in the coming years, promising to be a fierce 'battlefield' for smartphone companies.
In addition, there are some notable highlights in Counterpoint Research's report, including:
- Global smartphone revenue to grow 5% in 2024, ending two years of decline.
- Global average selling price (ASP) hits record high of $356.
- Samsung maintained its second position in revenue market share, but was far behind Apple in ASP.
- Huawei was absent from the report, suggesting its influence is largely concentrated in the domestic market.
Can Apple maintain its dominance in 2025 and beyond? The race for global smartphone market share promises to be increasingly fierce.
