Over the past 5 years of sustainable development, Bamboo Airways has consolidated its position in the market with quality aviation services, the safest and most punctual flights in the industry; and a continuously expanding fleet and flight network.
But beyond the simple task of transporting passengers, many special flights make up the "pride of Bamboo Airways" because of their humane and different meanings.
90% of passengers are pregnant women and children repatriated from the epidemic center
During the days when the whole country was struggling to fight the epidemic, Bamboo Airways deployed many special flights to the epidemic center to bring people back home. Of which, two flights QH9206 and QH9208 on August 22, 2021, departing from Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) brought nearly 400 pregnant women and children to Dong Hoi Airport (Quang Binh) in absolute safety. These are the airline's flights carrying the most pregnant women and newborns.
Besides these special passengers, thousands of people from Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Thanh Hoa... were able to return home on dozens of flights affectionately called "love flights" by Bamboo people.
In the context of traffic hubs being almost paralyzed due to social isolation, Bamboo Airways' efforts to connect air routes have been enthusiastically supported and highly appreciated by local authorities and people.
Taking premature baby in Con Dao to emergency room in time
Con Dao is one of the pioneering routes of Bamboo Airways. Besides the economic significance, the operation team also witnessed humane stories with heartwarming endings thanks to this direct flight.
On May 25, 2021, a representative of Bamboo Airways received an emergency case related to the transportation of a premature baby weighing only 2.1 kg. Due to the poor conditions of the medical facilities in Con Dao, the family was asked to urgently transfer the baby to Children's Hospital II in Ho Chi Minh City to be incubated in an incubator on the same day.
With the prompt intervention of the airline's leadership team, the special attention of the crew and family, the child had a smooth 1-hour direct flight. After landing at Tan Son Nhat airport at 5:05 p.m. the same day, the child was immediately taken care of by the airport medical staff and taken to the hospital.
After that, according to the hospital update, the baby responded well to the hospital's protocol and progressed well. The baby's family representative also sent sincere thanks to the staff of Bamboo Airways for their timely, dedicated and thoughtful support.
Entering the war zone to bring compatriots in Ukraine back home
In addition to the difficulties caused by Covid-19, the escalating geopolitical conflict in Ukraine has also caused many difficulties for our compatriots abroad, who want to return home. At that time, the airspace of the host country was closed, flights connecting the two countries were paralyzed, and the chance of returning home was very slim. On this arduous journey home, Bamboo Airways is proud to play the role of a humane bridge bringing Vietnamese people home safely.
Entrusted by the Government, on March 10, 2022, Bamboo Airways brought 300 Vietnamese people in Ukraine back to Vietnam, landing safely at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), after a flight of more than 11 hours. These are the first Vietnamese people evacuated through Poland to return home due to the complicated war situation in Ukraine.
Leaving the insecurity behind, the people were welcomed by the Government to reunite with their relatives across the country and stabilize their lives. The love of compatriots became the red thread connecting everyone together into a great unity during the turbulent days of March on the other side of the world.
Transporting a heart awaiting a transplant
In addition to carefully scheduled flights, Bamboo Airways also has flights that require additional preparation just hours before take-off, related to human safety.
For example, Bamboo Airways flight QH1201 Hanoi - Hue on the night of July 6, 2023. This journey was delayed by more than 23 minutes to wait for the "160th special passenger", which was a still-beating heart waiting to be transplanted to a patient being treated at Hue Central Hospital.
As soon as the organ harvesting surgery was officially scheduled at 5:20 p.m., the Hanoi - Hue flight had only one last flight taking off at 7:35 p.m. by Bamboo Airways, but the actual time to remove the heart from the donor's chest was longer than expected. Bamboo Airways provided maximum support for all flight procedures to wait for the "heart" and the transplant team to fly back to Hue.
In response to that effort, the heart landed at Phu Bai airport (Thua Thien Hue) at 9:25 p.m. and arrived at the Cardiovascular Center - Hue Central Hospital at 9:48 p.m. At that time, the hospital team opened the patient's chest, the heart was immediately placed in the transplanted chest. More than an hour later, the heart was beating again in the recipient's chest. One day after the heart transplant, the patient was extubated, fully conscious, with stable hemodynamic and biochemical indicators and good heart function.
Professor Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, said the coordination of the hospital, traffic police, airlines, and passengers on the plane helped save a patient's life. "There was no fatigue in the journey of joining hands to continue life," said Dr. Hiep.
These are just a few typical stories recorded in hundreds of thousands of Bamboo Airways' hospitable flights over the past 5 years.
Bamboo Airways representative shared: "For the staff of the airline, the beautiful stories in the journey of work are always a great motivation for us to be more passionate about our job, to make more efforts every day to serve wholeheartedly over the past 5 years. Bamboo Airways hopes to continue to accompany passengers on new journeys for many years to come."
Since its launch, Bamboo Airways has developed a widespread flight network, connecting 22/22 Vietnamese airports, along with 14 international direct routes to many gateway airports in Asia, Australia, Europe,...
The airline has transported more than 20 million passengers on 153,000 absolutely safe flights, always leading the industry in terms of on-time performance, with an average rate of more than 95% throughout the years.
Bamboo Airways' aviation service quality has been positively evaluated by many customers and the media, through domestic and international awards such as: "Airline with the best service in Vietnam", "Asia's leading regional airline", "Asia's most progressive airline", "Asia's best flight attendants", and top "World's and Asia's best regional airlines"...
